Did she have a point person? I've been keeping her and that precious baby boy in my thoughts all day. I wonder what's going on
Banana on the off chance you are reading here, you have our hearts and minds. Hope you are recovering well and that your boy is gaining strength and health. Xoxo

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Baby boy (Lachlan) is still at Sick Kids in Toronto. Unfortunately, I'm still at my local hospital an hour away. My H was able to be with him today and I'll be joining them as soon as I can.
Basically what happened is that I noticed a substantial decrease in fetal movement yesterday evening so I called my midwife and she arranged for me to do a nonstress test at the hospital. His heart rate was a bit low and she wasn't seeing the accelerations and decelerations that she would've liked to have seen so she called in the OB. While we were waiting for the OB, his heart rate got worse. The OB also did an ultrasound and noticed that my amniotic fluid was very low. She decided to do a c-section immediately. We didn't have time for the epidural to kick in so I had to go under general.
When they got him out, he was covered in meconium, was not breathing, and his heart was not beating. They were able to revive him quickly but due to the meconium in his lungs, he is unable to breathe on his own.
The team from Sick Kids was brought in by helicopter immediately and they worked on him for hours to stabilize him before transferring him to Toronto. My H was able to follow behind but I had to stay here.
His biggest challenge right now is the meconium in his lungs. They are also unsure if his brain was affected due to the lack of oxygen. They are therapeutically cooling him right now for 72 hours and we'll know more after that time period.
There are a few bright spots. He is very feisty and actually pulled out his own breathing tube. All of the typical newborn reflexes are there. His heart rate is good. There has been no seizure activity. He is alert and responsive. He is super cute!
I'm obviously terrified but I know he is in good hands. I only got to see him for about two minutes before he was transferred so I'm really hoping to get to Toronto as soon as I can. We have a room at Ronald McDonald house. My H was able to delay his start date for his RCMP training until May 28th so he'll be here to support me during this difficult time.
Thanks again for all the thoughts, prayers, and hugs.

Oh Banana, I'm so so sorry. I'm sending you and your little boy all of my good thoughts and prayers right now. I hope you are able to be there with him as soon as possible and that he recovers and quickly from all of this. Big huge hugs.
Good thoughts for quick improvement! Sounds like he's a fighter. My son also pulled out his breathing tube on the way to NICU, and now not much can keep him still for too long.
