I found out yesterday as I was leaving work that one of the attorneys I'm assigned to is being changed as of Monday. They are doing it "to lighten my workload" since I'm pregnant which is complete bullshit since my workload is fine and not heavy at all. I'm so pissed about this -I've been working with this attorney for 3 1/2 years and have such a good routine with him, now I have to learn a whole new attorneys way of working with only 2 months before I'm due. Of course I have no say in this and this kind of change is horrible for me right now. I swear my office is just trying to piss off as many people as possible lately and they are doing a great job at making people want to look for other jobs.
I'm seriously considering looking for a new job after mat leave even though I only plan on working until next spring when we move then I'll be staying home.

JJ - I was hired by the firm 7 years ago not for that specific attorney, and it's not unheard of to be switched sometimes, but for some reason they like to break up what we call "happy homes" (admins and attorneys who work well together) for stupid reasons.
The real reason I was switched is not because they are looking out for my welfare being pregnant and all but really because another admin is too friendly with her attorney (These are 2 women so not sexually friendly but actual good friends) and for some reasons the powers that be don't like how friendly they are. So I'm getting this other attorney and they are giving my attorney to this other admin. This really has nothing to do with lightening my workload it's to solve another problem all together
That's so frustrating - I'm sorry! It sounds like an all-around unpleasant place to work.
It's never been a GREAT WONDERFUL place to work, but overall it hasn't been so bad, that's why I've been here 7 years. It has certainly gone downhill over the past year though. The other attorney I work for is an equity partner who I've been working with for almost 5 years and he is really the only thing that is keeping me sane at all here - he's super awesome to work for and if they did try and switch me from him I would walk out of here immediately. I don't think there is chance of that ever happening, but who knows after the crap they pulled yesterday.
I wonder what their reasoning was behind this change? Sounds stupid to me. Why would you want 2 new people in less than 2-3 months. I am sure they will have to get someone to cover for you while on ML.
