I just got back from a staff "amazing race" challenge. It was so fun (for me.)
BUT one "challenge" involved a MILE RUN (that all teammates had to do.) This wasn't advertised. Everyone was in comfortable clothing, but we were all picturing more "carry an egg on a spoon" relays kind of thing. I felt so bad for some people who tried but then gave up. </3

Yeah that's not cool. I need very different gear for fun and games stuff where comfy clothes are jeans, sandals/less/ballet flats and a cute top and any kind of running which requires an industrial strength sports bra and proper shoes. I could run a mile, but that's not the point.

Yeah, that's pretty excessive for one challenge in a series of fun challenges. At least if they would have announced that as one of the challenges beforehand, people could have prepared better, or opted not to sign up if that was not their thing...
Ha, our Internet is down now, and everyone is just hanging when we are supposed to be "catching up" from our activity this morning. It's like karma justice
That's not cool--a number of people in my team have injuries or mobility issues that would prevent that.
Then there's people like me--I'm a fat kid and can't really run a mile. I can walk it in a timely fashion, but I would be embarrassingly sweaty and tired.

Yeah, I agree with @kcpokergal. I would be SO embarrassed if I had to run a mile and I doubt I could do it without making a total fool of myself. Add to the fact that I need a sports bra and good shoes- hell to the no. That is really discriminating.

Yeah, I don't run. It jars my back too much, and then I can't walk the next day. I would have calmly walked though, and finished 5 minutes after the others. Oh well.
That's awful. I can run, but only with good shoes and an ankle brace. Without those, I make it 100 yards and my ankles seize up. I would die if I had to try that in front of my cw. Even walking that far can kill my ankles.
Coworkers went on a trip to Germany and had a team building exercise with a group of people from various locations around the world. All were wearing business attire (many women wearing skirts). They had a team building exercise where the whole team had to pass through wholes in a giant net wall, but couldn't reuse the same whole for more than one person. The exercise involved lifting women (in skirts, who may not have wanted everyone's hands all of their body) up high to get through the higher holes. It also involved LOTS of in appropriate comments about the smaller people vs. the bigger people, certain races of people being smaller. etc.
