Saturday morning At 40w2d I woke up with regular contractions, a bit more intense than the BH I had been having daily. I thought it was probably it, but was not completely convinced. They were regular every 5-7 minutes and DH kept trying to rush me to the hospital because he heard crazy stories about third kids popping right out. I posted on ML about how annoying my H was being and they sided with him, lol. Around 12:00, it started getting more intense and regular so I agreed to go get checked. We went for a walk when we got downtown and went to L&D around 1:30pm. That's when my contractions stopped, lol. They admitted me to get checked and it picked up again a bit. They checked me at 2:30 and I was at 3.5-4. So they decided to give me a couple of hours and check me again to see if I should stay it go home. DH really didn't want to go home. The nurse came to sit in my room and time my contractions and gave me a speech about how there was no way it was real labour and I should just go home. Thanky âge finish ex her shift at 4, lol. When the next nurse came I was having strong contractions. They checked me at 5pm and I was at 5cm. I was doing really well breathing through my contractions so I decided to stick with my no epi plan. I went in the hot tub for about 30 minutes. I started doing visualization, I remembered someone on ML mentioning visualizing a flower opening with each contraction so I started doing that. If worked really well. Back in the room, they checked me and I was at 6. It was about 6:30pm. At 7 I felt the need to push, but I was only at 8. I asked for the gas and got stoned through my contractions for a while. I kept sling them to check me because I felt pressure but it wasn't progressing fast, they explained it was because my water hasn't broken yet, and that it would be really fast once it happened. But the OB and senior resident were busy with a csection and told the junior residents to wait for them and not break it. And that's when I ran out of laughing gas. My nurse started getting frustrated with the doctors saying the baby would be born in the sac and it was unfair to make me wait like that. I was at 9. Around 8:30 they finished the csection and came and broke my water, 5 minutes later I called then back to push and I was at 10. I pushed for less than 5 minutes but man this is when I screamed. Up till then breathing and visualizing kept me quiet. Ring of fire is no fucking joke, I was screaming and saying how I couldn't do it. He was out at 8:44, just shy of 9 lbs and perfect.
