I was all teary at the airport, but I know how fast these next 6 or so weeks are going to go by w/ how much I have on my plate. He also used to go on tours for weeks at a time, so this is nothing new for us.
H arrives in SF later today and starts his new job on Monday!
Meanwhile, I haven't even TOLD my work yet...I am supposed to meet w/ my boss this week, but now he is getting wishy washy on a time b/c he's just super busy, and we are off on Friday, so this needs to happen today or tomorrow. I am considering just stalking his office until he turns up and asking for 5 mins. I want to tell him first before I talk to my direct supervisor, HR, etc. I really want to get this out in the open...it is so awkward not to mention to coworkers that I am friendly with that, 'oh btw, I'm moving halfway across the country soon!'
I need to now focus on getting a new job! I had so much going on with my current job the last 2 weeks that I haven't had much time for job hunting. I really like my current job, so this is going to be tough...I am already worried about not being able to find something that I like as much. Or of course not being able to find anything at all...so wish me luck there!

Wow that was quick! I may have missed it, but did he end up finding an apartment or is he doing a hotel?
My DH and I went through the same thing- it was 4 weeks not 6, but I know how you feel! It was hard even though we had been separated plenty of times before. You'll have lots to keep you busy, though. Good luck!
Good luck! It sucks to wait out the boss for something like this. I hope Mr. Phun loves his job and you find one you love quickly too. Hope everything goes smoothly with your move

He is renting a furnished room in a 3 bedroom apartment for the next month. And during that time, he'll be looking for apartments for us for when I come out there.
In SF for work this week, it is such a cool city!! Have fun on your new chapter and keep us updated on convo with boss and your job hunt. There is so much happening in this area, you have a lot of choice regardless of what you do!

Also, damn some of these streets are hilly!!!!!
Lol, @shoegal, my H was just saying that too. New Orleans is 100% completely flat and H was like, 'Man, these hills are crazy...I can't even remember the last time I walked up a hill!'

So, a little update, I did get a chance to talk to my boss yesterday and it went really well. I still need to talk to my direct supervisor (this was actually like my boss's boss I guess...but he used to be my direct supervisor before the latest reshuffling of departments). I think she is on a different campus all day today, so I'm bummed that it might have to wait until next week...but I'm really glad I was able to get this off my chest w/ my 'big' boss so that he knows what's up.
