I have learned that sometimes it's good to be too poor to donate to people. I have also learned that if a person asks for money, they probably don't really need it. Conversely if they don't ask, it's likely they could actually use it. (Money in this case includes gifts, amazon lists, ponies, etc.)

I've remembered that, yep, there are some super sleuths, but I've found that the #1 best asset of cracking cases on ML is to have a terrific memory. The truth always shakes out-you just have to remember what you're looking for. And then, of course, the internet machine helps you find it.
