...we moved to FL and I saw my house in person for the first time.
I hated it.
lol
It just was not exactly what I was expecting...I didn't know the lot was so heavily wooded, there was so much more work than I thought, and it just seemed kind of creepy.
My first impression was colored by a day that had been filled with airports, dogs in carriers under the seat, and residual exhaustion from packing and getting out of the other house, so after a good dinner and some sleep in a nice hotel, it looked more promising in the morning. It has come such a long way in a year, and the love we have given the house shows. I am looking forward to tackling the rest of the work, but over time...we have plenty of time to get to the rest of it.
It was definitely a good move for us. Even though it was not the area we originally wanted, this house is the right house for us, in the right neighborhood, with the best neighbors ever. And we only live two freeway exits from DH's work, which has been the biggest change for the better in our lives.
Wow, time flies! I'd love to see a before/after post if you ever feel like it.
We still aren't quite to the 'after' photo point, but we're closing in on it. I am still playing around with furniture arrangement in the living room, and getting all of the decor/art in the right places, but hopefully soon.
Our cabinet guy wanting to have a pro photograph the kitchen is pushing me to work on finishing all spaces visible from the kitchen. I still haven't unpacked our art, but once I do, I think that I will enlist my neighbor to help me figure out where it all goes and have her help me hang it. She and I could probably do it much faster than DH and I...and without disagreements. lol
