Does anybody use a Garmin HRM for things other than running? I googled, and found a few people using them, but not much.
I didn't exercise last pregnancy besides light walking, but I'd like to remain active this time. I know the under 140 HR is old advice, but I still am wondering if it'd be better to at least know what my body is doing. I run and take Body Pump, and am wondering if someone has experience using a Garmin HRM (because I want the 220, and don't want to get a separate Polar or other brand one).

I have a 210, and in addition to using it when running, biking, and hiking outside, I also use it: - for HR on indoor trainer rides - running on the TM for HR and mileage as determined by the footpod that pairs with it - during strength training to estimate calorie burn to put into MFP
The 210 is one of the older models that supports calculating calories by HR. My old 405 didn't, and if I rode my bike 20 miles it'd say I burned like 2000 calories. Not so much. (It calculated calorie burn assuming I'd run all miles and could not be convinced otherwise.) I would assume the 220 would do it.
I have the Garmin 110. I've used the HR monitor for running, cardio workouts and spinning. I mostly bought the HR monitor to use for when/if I ever get pregnant but I've tested it out in a variety of workouts and it works well. I don't even notice its there once I get going.

The only thing that might be an issue is that the Garmin 220 actually calibrates itself for indoor use on a TM with GPS turned off - which in my experience works decently and is awesome. If you use it for non-running indoor activities, it would likely mess up the calibration or try to calculate your mileage for your spinning class or body pump or whatever based on its calibration for non-GPS activities. This is only really an issue if you also want to use it for indoor TM running and have it calculate mileage. You can go in to Garmin Connect and manually adjust the mileage back down to zero if need be.
I would think it would work fine as far as registering your HR and calories burned.

I just used my 110 last night for a class. I lost a couple minutes because I forgot to turn it on during the warm-up. When I'm trying to lose weight, I'll wear during all of my cardio activities.

I used my 110 all the time for indoor classes for the purpose of calorie counts. I recently upgraded to the 210 and then my HRM died shortly after. It worked about the same for keeping track of HR. Hoping to replace the HR strap soon!

I use the 305 for indoor cardio like soon and the elliptical. It's bulky, but does the job.
My PRE gets skewed when I'm pregnant, so it was nice to have a HRM to keep me in check. Even though the 140 hr guideline is considered outdated, seeing my HR get into the upper 160's/170's made me uneasy and that would be my signal to dial it back.

Thank you! This is exactly what I'm thinking. I was going to get this watch for my birthday in October, but H is cool with me going ahead and ordering now.
