I've noticed several people here saying they're using Smart Coach for their training plan. I might be interested in using it for my half May 2015 (overplan much?). Are you using the paid version or the free version? How does it compare to other plans you've used?
I used the free version, but the only other plan I've ever used was a program through a LRS. I prefer smartcoach because my plan includes tempo runs and speed work. One of my goals this year is to get faster. I think I'm going to use it to train for Chicago too, instead of HH novice 2 plan.
Agree with the previous poster...I have used the free version and I really liked how it took into account your pace and gave you tempo and speed work to do. You can also choose if you do long runs on Saturday or Sunday.

I was just looking at the Runner's World site...do they do the free version of Smartcoach anymore?? I couldn't find it...
Huh. I think you might be right.
I did the free Smart Coach plans for my first 10K and my recent half. I liked the schedules, but I am not sure that they are drastically different from any other plans available for free. I don't think I would pay for one. Haha, and I am sure this is more coincidental than anything, but my SC plan predicted a time that ended up within 23 seconds of the actual time that I finished my half!

Hmmm, I just used the free version today. I googled "runners world smart coach" and it brought me right to my plan. I had already saved the plan though.
I haven't used it but I may for the Fall. It has been running a LOT of miles - up to about 35/week for a half. It also has be doing FIVE 13 mile training runs. I may die - or just be more confident in my ability to train for a marathon.
