Love: the people are nice, my manager is really friendly and supportive and goes to bat for me, pleasant and casual work environment, the staff plans fun little activities to boost morale, it's an easy commute for me, the office is in a good location with lots of shopping nearby so it's easy to run lunchtime errands, a lot of down time
Hate: I don't "hate" anything, but I wish my salary was higher. I also wish the coworkers who sit right near me weren't so yappy. Deadlines can be tight some months, and contributors very frequently drop out at the last minute so I have to scramble to find other contributors or write things myself (on topics I know little to nothing about).
Love: the mission, the wide variety of programs I touch, policy/research
Hate: the fact that stated milestones are completely ignored and everything must be completed yesterday, regulations be damned. The fact that I complete things in 1% of the time allotted and still receive attitude.
God this is so true. But I would rather have a love-hate relationship with the people than just feel sort of "meh" about my CWs.
I love that the company's small enough that I can see how what I do matters. I hate the wackadoo bureaucracy -- how does a 600 person company have 8 levels between line employees and the CEO? Why do I need to ask so many people's permission before I wipe my own ass in the bathroom? Okay, the last one was an exaggeration, but only a little.
Love: Challenging, successful, exciting company. Surrounded by brilliant people. Paid well with significant upside. Work at home when I'm not traveling.
Hate: A handful of ineffective people who don't fit in culturally. Stress of maintaining performance, high pressure situations, travel.
Love: paycheck, benefits, freebies, a wonderful and somewhat neurotic boss, crazy co-workers who always make me laugh (at them), being able to make decisions and not having to answer or explain myself to anyone
Hate: I wish I had a window so I could see some sunshine and the outside world. I daydream about pulling my desk outside and turning a parking space into my office for a day. I'd probably get mugged. lol
Love: The hours: 12 hour shifts mean more days off. I love the exciting experiences. Although it's very much the same, it's usually something different each day.
Hate: The many difficult personalities, high stress and how some coworkers respond to it so terribly, being spoken down to by patients and some docs (most are awesome), the sad sad stories.
