A friend of mine is getting married later this year. She's never really been interested in the kitchen but her FI is retiring from an overseas contracting gig and likes "making stuff", apparently including food stuff. Because they met and are still in a war zone, they have zero pots and pans. They do, however, have plenty of money and moving to a first world country this summer so they'll have a proper kitchen.
So, what's your dream cookware? What should she buy? I have a TON of other random kitchen stuff written up for her but cook on my mom's old Revereware (which is incredible but they don't make them the same way anymore) so I don't really have any personal recommendations.
ETA: To clarify that I'm talking about pots and pans.
All-Clad Stainless (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/all-clad-stainless-10-piece-cookware-set-with-bonus/f51467), a Le Creuset dutch oven, and a Lodge cast iron skillet.
ETA - and a cheap non-stick skillet (I like the IKEA one...replace it when the non-stick coating becomes worn), plus some bakeware
That was easy! I added on a set of All-Clad for her, a wok, and remembered that I always seem to need a gigantic stockpot whenever it's least convenient to borrow so I put that on there as well.
Also, a dutch oven (le creuset). I have a yellow one and actually got it at home goods for $100 less than it sells in other stores. Love it !!
A small fry pan for eggs and the such that is non-stick too!!
I agree about a small non stick for eggs! I'm about to buy an all clad nonstick one. They have a lifetime warranty and will replace it if the nonstick wears off
