Friday to Saturday MOTN plus (drinking) randoms

I'm parked on the couch, watching Modern Family and GBCNing while my nails dry. They and my toenails are a lovely shade of teal, I'm quite pleased.

i put L to bed tonight because my h is out. she didn't make a peep.

i feel a little smug that i was right, but this also sucks. i don't want to do bedtime too! i want a break!

tomorrow we will see what happens when my h is home all day so L sees plenty of him and hopefully won't be so upset at bedtime. i'm convinced this is separation anxeity/she misses her dad so tomorrow will be telling.

Longest week ever. But I sure loved the happy look on C's face every night when I came home.

Also, TMI, I think I have a yeast infection. Do I really have to go to the doc to be diagnosed?

I made a huge pitcher of homemade daiquiris and am sitting around with my H, mom, and ILs laughing at my H's dorky high school pictures they brought.

I agree that there was a huuuge word explosion around 18 months. I feel like he has a new word every day.

H and I were both off for DS's 6 month appointment today. We learned we all have large heads (seriously - the pedi measured all of us!) and DS is ahead of schedule with sitting. Which is a relief since he still isn't rolling back to belly.
He was great with his shots, and an angel when we went out to lunch afterward. 6 months is so fun! Now fingers crossed for a good night and not waking up for the day at 5am.
We're doing 6 months pics tomorrow!

I am so excited at the idea of my kid talking someday. It seems so weird that he could be talking... well, any day now, but more likely in a few months. Crazy! When my nephew was here last week, my sister would be talking away to him like I do to Bas, but then he'd answer her! (Nephew is 22 months.)

I can't waiiiiiiit for AJ to talk.  Part because, well, making kids talk is what I do for a living.  But also because I can't imagine him talking and it's going to be so awesome.  He's so full of mamamamamamamas and bababababababas and making noises just so I'll respond and keep the turn taking going.  (if he says "ah", I say "ah", and we go back and forth until one of us gets distracted and stops)

I had a really good day with DS1. We didn't do anything special but it's been such a long time since I've felt that way with him. Zero tantrums, fully cooperative and he took a long nap. I feel awful for saying this but he's such an awesome kid when he's not being a little tyrant.

msniq did daycare pickup tonight for the first time, and it was apparently an eye-opener. But, she had a much longer trip from work to DC than I have. Still it's nice to get some credit.

Good Friday service means I miss dinner and bedtime tonight. Hopefully GBCN has some entertainment. Maybe I will read some of that ML thread's fallout, even though I do not read ML. THE SUMMARY IS FOURTEEN PAGES wtf.

SAME! She usually fusses for 15-30 minutes after DH puts her down, but tonight, it was like 5 min.

you have no idea how happy this makes me. i keep telling my h she just misses him. but he always thinks it's a crisis.

DH had the day off and took the kids after he cut the grass this morning. I got so, so much done. All the laundry, guys, I haven't had all the laundry done and put away for months.

I painted the hallway upstairs but need to run to SW first thing in the morning to tint another gallon. We prepped the downstairs hallway and it's going to be a huge PITA with all the cutting in but I can't wait for it to be finished. Hopefully I can get the master bedroom/bathroom too.

My baby is sleeping better and I think it's because I picked up some overnight diapers. Fx for a good night.

I am downing a bottle of Merlot right now trying to calm my nerves about DHs deployment. We are very very very close to his leave date and until today I have been in complete denial. Reality hit and my anxiety is through the roof Ugh! This isn't our first and I know we will all be ok and get through it but damn this sucks. Honestly I just want him to leave....the buildup is killer.

Thanks to this deployment I will have more time to participate on the board instead of being a dirty lurker!

In law visit is going pretty well so far. Tomorrow we are leaving her with them to get lunch and run errands. Errands with a 21 month old are hell

Thank you for commiserating. We are up 5-7 times a night despite trying every sleeping arrangement possible. Luckily I SAH so I can nap.

It is so good to hear from a parent that had a bad sleeper first and then a good sleeper. We have always wanted 3 kids but I'm scared to have another one because how will I deal with a toddler and a NB that doesn't sleep.

DD was a horrid sleeper until just after 2. She woke at least 4X a night until 18mo and never STTN until around 26mo. We tried Ferber multiple times with no improvement.....

With DS I swore I would do things differently to not create the same habits. We moved him to his own bed/room at 3mo (vs. DDs 11mo) and I always tried to put him down awake but drowsy and allow him to fuss a bit before going in (all the "right" things). Almost 16mo and he has still never STTN  I apparently just give birth to crappy sleepers. Only difference is this time I have accepted it and I'm not beating myself up about what I did to screw him up  I am really hoping #3 is my a great sleeper and my reward for the first two!

I really, really need to go to bed. The movers are set to be here at 7am, and if the past 3 nights have been an indication, I'm going to be up with V most of the night. And I'm not even doing anything productive, I'm sitting here drinking a beer, lol. But there are things I should be doing so I feel like I can't go to bed. Tomorrow is going to suck.

ETA: I am so grateful that we sold our house so quickly and at our asking price, but this is so bittersweet.  This is our first house and although there are plenty of things I don't love about it, I'm feeling oddly emotional about leaving it behind.

I can't sleep. I am still getting over this upper respiratory bug and was so exhausted at work today, couldn't wait to come home and go to bed. And here I am wide awake.

Parenting fail. We were at a get together with DH's extended family this evening. DS3 usually goes to bed at 7. He would not fall asleep. We tried rocking, cuddling, not cuddling, and were taking turns dealing with him so neither DH nor I really had a handle on the situation. He finally totally melted down at about 9:15pm, we left, he slept for about half and hour on the way home, then screamed the rest of the way (another 40ish minutes). Ack. Total rookie mistake. I feel so bad that he was so over tired. Major WTF on my part. I know better.

H and I woke up at 3 am this morning to the sound of DD's snuza alarm going off. She's ok now, but it took what seemed like forever to wake her. I don't know if she was just in a really deep sleep (or god forbid worse), but it took quite a bit of poking her and yelling her name after H picked her up before she woke up. (It probably was no more than 5-10 seconds, but fuck it seemed like forever!)

I'm pretty sure I'm never going to sleep again. How am I supposed to just lay down and go to sleep knowing she could stop breathing at any point??? Now I'm sitting, just watching her in her RNP.

My random: I'm reading 'The boy who came back from heaven' and it's really interesting. I recommend it. I had a really weird dream I was back in high school but I was so behind on my homework. I think it's because my mom is visiting and we were discussing HS friends.

The smallest size if found in disposable overnights is size 3 which started around 16lbs. I think there are doubler type pads you can add to smaller sized disposables to increase their absorbency but I don't have any experience there.

If your cloth diapering, you can add a hemp doubler or two with a top layer of fleece to wick away moisture.

My other two kids couldn't care less how wet they were overnight, it never affected their sleep. We're entering voodoo "I try anything" territory over here, but A certainly is particular so feeling dry seems to be helping. I'd just change him at his wake ups but he haaates it in the middle of the night. Screams and gets himself so worked up, it's not worth it. The kids wants to eat rightnow lol.
