I really want to stop buying bottled water when I'm out and about.
I'm looking for one that is as green and earthy - crunchy as you can get, avoiding all the BPA and phthalates and other stuff the internet says to avoid.
I had a metal one, but felt like it made the water taste weird?
Anyway, the Nalgene and Camelbak bottles are available at Target. They are all BPA-free. I prefer to use a 1L water bottle, but they are also available in smaller sizes.
At home, I like to drink out of a mason jar, either with a stainless steel straw or with one of these:
I have a 32 oz Nalgene wide-mouth that is BPA free (3 of them because I use them so heavily at work and home!) and for travel I have a Vapur collapsable bottle.
I really like my life factory water bottle, water tastes great as it's a glass bottle. It is pretty heavy though so I just leave it on my desk at work. I'm thinking about getting another one with a straw top for home.
My favorite water bottle is the Camelbak Eddy. Target carries them in a bunch of different sizes. I have it in two different sizes and like that they carry one thats small enoigh that its not bulky in my bag. I find that I drink more water when I am drinking from a straw also.
The filter is removable so that you can clean the bottle. If you don't put the filter back on just so, the bottle won't close properly and will leak. I found out the hard way. But as long as the the filter is fitted correctly, the bottle doesn't leak.
I was a Camekbak fan for years, but gave up recently because the straw tops always eventually leak on me. Always. I've replaced all components of the top and I still get leaks, especially if I leave the bottle in a warm car for even a small amount of time. It's so annoying.
I recently upgraded to the Takeya classic 22 oz glass bottle: www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003DTLNUG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1397924011&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40 and I am OBSESSED with it. It's glass so it's BPA free and doesn't have a weird plastic smell when you take a drink. It also doesn't retain smells from drinks you put in it (I like to put lemon, mint, lime, cucumber etc in my water and my Camelbak bottles always smelled weird for days if I used a fruit infused water in them). It's also a better price point and IMO more attractive than the Lifefactory bottles. My mom and BFF have bought them too based on my raves and are very happy.
I am a recent fan of the Camelbak Eddy. I like the 32 ounce one, because it fits well in my car cup holder, and in my hand when I'm drinking. The straw is really nice to have. Lots of people seem to really like the glass ones too, but I'm to clumsy for them.
I had some kind of Kleen Canteen that I got through work, and I also thought it made the water taste all metallic and weird. I eventually donated it because I never used it. I also used to have a Nalgene (I think before they removed the BPA) and the mouth was so wide I was constantly spilling all over myself. I got a insert for it, but the insert was always popping out and it was super annoying.
Now I have these Reduce Water Week bottles for everyday use:
Then we have Vapur Element collapsible water bottles for travel. It has a smaller mouth piece with the flip top, so it's easy to drink from, but the top screws off so you can also fill it with ice.
I have a 32 oz Nalgene wide-mouth that is BPA free (3 of them because I use them so heavily at work and home!) and for travel I have a Vapur collapsable bottle.
This is what I use, as well. I love that it is so simple and easy to clean.
I've had it about a year, and it's holding up very well. My only issue is that 26 oz is the largest it comes, and I'd prefer it at least 32 oz. But it is great.
