What made you decide to do it? How did you find them? What made you choose that one? What benefit do you get out of it? Do you like it? Tell me your stories.
Just curious. DS and I are on the couch with strep so I need some entertainment. Thanks ladies.

Yuck, I hope you guys feel better soon!
I stumbled across my running group through word of mouth at local races. There aren't many groups in my area, so it's sort of grown to be the dominate one in the past couple years. It's not often that I can make the group runs, but it's nice to have a network of familiar faces at races, and they also have family picnics and other events that we attend.
I am an ambassador for a clothing company (see link below!) and I also race for a triathlon team.
You can apply for ambassadorships as you see them - Active.com allows you to keep a resume up for companies to find you. A lot of companies also post them Facebook. The biggest thing is free product, so you should only apply for stuff that you really like since you will represent them. If there is a small local company, you can pitch your own ambassador idea. My friend actually does this for everything and because of that, she is sponsored by a new running shoe company (Atra) and those Nortic recovery boots. She is very good at selling herself.
As far as running teams/groups and whatnot, I would start at your local running store. My team found me, but I am sure if you look around at races you will see a couple of popular kits. The biggest perk of being on a team are discounts. At least here, most teams have discount codes for races.
The camaraderie is pretty great as well. Like, when I see another Couersports girl at a race, it's like "OMG!! LONG LOST SISTER I NEVER MET!!" and I dig things like that.

I'm an ambassador for a local race organizer. They've had to deal with a lot of challenges and crazy shit from runners, local government, other race organizers and still manage to pull off awesome events. The RDs are such kind, caring, generous people and I really enjoy getting to represent them at every event I can.
Perks aren't all that - a shirt to wear to events, free or discounted entries. But I've met some really great people as a result and that's good enough for me.

I run on the team of a local running store.
I actually found them on accident -- was trying on shoes when I annoyed the poor sales guy enough for him to talk me into going out with the group run in the shoes I was trying. I came back the next week...and then the next few months...
I was just part of their run group at first but then I applied for the team. It's my second year on the team. I really like it -- for the community of it and for the comp'ed races!

and you WERE a Snickers ambassador!
Yes that's true! There are also a bunch of event specific training groups around here, so I wasn't sure if jamalynn was talking about being a race ambassador or product. I also did Team Aquaphor, too. The samples were a bit easier to store, than the Marathon Bars
gumi covered it all. I made a lot of running friends throughout the country, and it was fun. I actually met up with a few in Boston this past weekend while waiting in the Athletes Village. I did get a little burnt out after doing it for 3 years. We had one closet in our house that ended up being dedicated to just storing product samples. I may sign up to do it again once I'm racing on a regualr basis again though.
