Okay so here's the deal with that, I have a huge library, and vast tastes in music. I love music and generally speaking it's on all the time at my house.
With that said, I have just started listening to it, I am sure you can guess why, a woman! Someone I saw for a couple months loved it and kind of showed me ropes a little, I can't really speak about what's good or not, but I know what I like. I am getting used to it and I even enjoy a lot of the new stuff.
Just ts to give you an idea here's a short list of the artists on my iPhone now...
Adele Alabama Alice in Chains Bad Company The Beach Boys Barbra Streisand Black Sabbath The Beatles Blue Oyster Cult Blur Boomtown Rats
okay this list will be way too long to bang out on my phone lol, I listen to everything, I even love classical music and have season tickets to the DSO, Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Opera?
I love it, and have seen a number of them, my favorites so far were Les Miserable, and Don Giovanni by WAM.
Just because it's American, doesn't mean Porgy & Bess isn't opera. That is what you mean, right? Les Miz is a musical, I know that. :-)

No, I was mostly referring to Les Miserables.
I've Porgy and Bess and The Mikado referred to as both as operas and operettas.
You are quite right, Les Mis is really a musical...I always felt the style made it feel more operatic even with the fact there are spoken parts. It's just always felt my deeper and heavier to me than a classic musical.
In the strict sense it is not an opera. However I also remember another WAM opera, the magic flute, that had moments of dialogue, double with the instrumental. I could be mistaken as it's been a while sense I saw that one, and I'm quite sure TMF is considered an opera, or is it an operetta due to it's more comical content?
Hahaha, for some reason this feels like a trick question! I like cakes, just not a lot of frosting, I think a basic chocolate or a strawberry cake are my favs.
What is your favorite part about living in that part of Michigan?
Well I do love the seasons, although this winter was a little rough...I can't complain though. I survived despite by best attempts not to
Are you from MI? I've lived in Michigan most my life, I spent some time in the "Philly area" (Melvern, KOP, and upper Darby) and I did a year Chicago too. Reading that it sounds like I am describing prisons lol, although that's kind of how Upper Darby felt! What a bad place that was.

Don Giovanni has a few spoken parts. When I went a few weeks ago, they even said one of the lines after inhaling from a helium balloon. (No joke. The Norwegian national Opera is notably weird)

I am from upstate NY originally but currently live in Cincinnati. My stbx alway wanted to move to Arizona but I need my seasons and Summer heat that doesn't make me want to hide indoors.

I've just read a bit of the beginning of this thread, but yeah, welcome. I have zero problem with nice, normal guys posting on here. I have a lot of guy friends and I'm willing to give anyone a chance until they prove otherwise. Getting a lot of different perspectives is great.
