Very cute! I think I'd do a lighter color on the walls instead of matching the navy in the carpet. You could do more of a soothing gray-blue or a lighter blue.

Can't quite tell from the pic if you have it this way, but I don't think you want the crib within reach of the curtains...the kid will grab for them and potentially pull them down (says the woman who didn't use wall anchors for the curtain rods by her kid's toddler bed).
I really like the navy walls, but you could always go with green for the walls and Navy curtains, if you wanted a lighter feel.
I don't really like the idea of a light orangey color with what you have there, but I have problems with pastels and light colors that just aren't quite there, so that could be coloring my opinion.

I like the navy walls a lot. I think if you get a lot of natural light in the room it would be great. That being said, I'd simplify and go with white curtains, navy walls, and the first rug.
Oh and the light cream color is blah for the walls - it's a nursery and one time that you'll have all the say in the colors, so I'd just go for navy since it's just paint.
I also like this wall if you want accent (and I think it would go great with the dresser you have):
I love everything about it! The rug is awesome and really makes the room. The green dresser is also cool. Are you painting it or is it already green? I hope you post pictures when it's all done.
May I ask how far along you are now? I'm trying to figure out at what point we should be starting to work on the nursery so it's done before the baby comes and we're not all stressed out at the end. I'm hoping to come up with both a boy and girl inspiration board. Obviously those kinds of details need to wait until our 20 wk U/S but there are furniture and pieces we'll have the same no matter what the sex that we could start buying/making.

I had a niche exactly like that in our kitchen, and it turned out that three over-the-fridge cabinets from Ikea fit the space *exactly*. Like, we had to take out the baseboards and use a mallet to get them in there. I think our space was 108". If your space is wider than that (or narrower; I think they come in different widths), you could always trim out the edges. It was a super easy way to achieve "built-in" storage. (Says the woman who didn't have to assemble the cabinets OR install them.)
And I really like your first design, with the dark blue walls. Very nice!
