Several of you asked if I would report back on our trip to Cabo San Lucas, so here you go. It was a really great time, and we are already planning a return trip in September!
We stayed at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, which is Hyatt's first run at an all inclusive. From the time we got there I knew it was a good choice. I've stayed in Cabo before, at the Royal Solaris, and it was lovely, but this place was the real deal. The service was impeccable, and since Hyatt took it over from Barcelo about 6 months ago, they have made a few positive changes to round out the amazingness.
The food was VERY good. For an all inclusive, that was pretty surprising. The drinks were also strong and they had tons of choices. It has been my experience in other AI's that they water down the drinks or give little cups or what have you. Definitely not the case here. Also, they had 5 a la carte dinner restaurants and you didn't have to have a reservation for any of them. Some times there was a wait but we just went to the bar and waited.
We had a swim up room, which was seriously awesome and worth the upgrade. It was great to not have to fight for a pool chair and to be able to jump in the pool and swim over to the bar. We spent tons of time there. The swim up room was also considered a "premium" room, so there was a special lounge with food and top shelf liquor open all day. It wasn't necessary, but it had a great ocean view so we did go up there a bit.
Also, there was no hassle on time shares, hidden charges, or the things I have heard of happening at other hotels. We checked out and owed nothing. No one asked us to buy anything except the guys on the beach when you went up to them. That was refreshing!
We also flew Spirit airlines, which I was so nervous about after reading the reviews. I posted our experience in the Spirit airlines thread, but overall it was fine. We knew the deal with charging for everything going into it, so we had no problems.
Overall, definitely recommend the resort. It was MM and fancy, a hard combination!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Awesome, thanks for sharing! Where did you book the package?
Through Expedia. I looked at a bunch of the website and they had the best price. Plus we purchased the travel insurance since my H's work schedule is so unpredictable.
Are you able to lock your swim up room when you leave out the patio door
No you can't, but we could see our room from the large pool. That's not true for every room, but several of them. And honestly, I never felt uncomfortable there or worried about anything being taken. We kept our money, Ipod/Ipad and passports in the safe.
This was a huge concern of ours (we don't have kids and usually book an Adults Only) and it was fine. It was Easter weekend so I was even more worried. There was also an adult only pool (which our room was attached to) so we avoided the main pool where all the kids were. There were no kids around our room either, mostly couples 30's and 40's.
Was there a party scene at all? I am helping to plan a bachelorette party in October and someone suggested Cabo.
This particular place did not have much of a late night nightlife, however, I think it varies resort to resort. The place next door to ours was crazy hopping and we could hear the music late into the night. Most of the people we met who were wanting nightlife went into Cabo San Lucas at night- there are tons of clubs there and a lot happening apparently. I think the latest we were up was 11:30 or so one night at the Sports Bar, which was pretty busy but not bachelorette style. HTH!
