A friend got us tickets for the BMA's in Las Vegas and I'm stumped as to what is the appropriate dress attire to an event like this. I'm pretty clueless and dress mostly conservatively (think Ann Taylor / Loft / etc.). I don't have the body for a bodycon dress and quite frankly, I think I'm too old for club-wear.
Does anyone know what people wear to award shows like this? Is this the equivalent as going to a music concert venue?
That's awesome! And I personally wouldn't suggest club-wear but maybe a nice cocktail dress? I'm not super familiar with those awards. If not, maybe some Black skinny jeans and a fun top and great heels? I googled it and some of the celebrities that attend go a little glitzy with sparkle and bright colored outfits. So I'd say have fun with it.
Do you have actual seats? DH went years ago and said there was a lot of standing around and waiting, so definitely wear comfortable shoes. I'd agree with black skinny pants and a cute shirt. You could also wear a cute black dress (not necessarily form fitting if you aren't comfortable with that) and just dress it up with fun accessories. DH said it's a step up from jeans attire and a step down from formal. DH wore jeans and said he felt ok but none of the women had jeans on.

I'd do an a-line dress from somewhere like Zara or Asos. The H&M Conscious Collection would be a good option too since it seems to be showing up at a lot of events. I'd go for a low, fun, comfortable wedge like the ones carylee07 just got from Amazon. Add some edge with accessories and use a personal shopper if you don't feel comfortable finding something on your own. I'd go for something with leather or lace trim instead of sequins for a top if you opt for pants. Use jewelry for sparkle instead with a statement necklace or earrings.
