#2- If you had a newborn who gained weight very quickly in their first few weeks, did they end up being "big"? Or did it slow down?
DD was a CHUNK. 8.6 at birth, and gained weight like a champ. She was in the 85-100th percentile for weight until she started crawling around 4 months. She is now becoming long and lean, but myself and my XH are on the taller size, so it's in keeping with her genes. How old where the girls when we first meet? 2-3 months? I remember DD being a tank next to little V!
Yes, I think they were that age (that makes me feel sad) and you're right, she was much bigger!
I also remember when she was crawling at 4 months and every other Park Slope mom was impressed, lol.
Ruby isn't "big" though, is she? It's just that Violet is small?
I don't think Ruby is that big compared to some "big" babies but she did gain 2 pounds in 2 weeks, which is a lot! I don't know what she weighs right now.

The reason I mention her beginning crawling is that her weight percentile began to drop as she became mobile. She was still a good sized baby because she loved (still does) her some boobie.

You saw how big my girl is yesterday. Henry was the same way, only slightly smaller. He quit growing so quickly at around 12 months. He is 95 percentile in height and 65th in weight. So tall and thin. You never would have thought that would have happened to him, he used to be such a chunk! I assume the same will happen with Annabelle.
I have heard that breast fed babies gain faster in the beginning then balance out while ff babies gain steadily. I have no clue if that's true.

I never had any pain after my epi.
Alexis was 8lbs 6oz at birth and every weigh/height check since she has been off the charts. She is the size of a 3 year old. I can never buy clothes ahead! Boo!
Colin gained quickly from birth to 6 months. Between 9-15 months gained maybe 2lbs? He went through a huge spurt again recently. He can wear 3T if I want but can wear 18m too. He's all over. He's chunky still compared to his classmates but whatever. They do level out for sure though. If I remember correctly is basically skipped through 6-9 month tops and wore some 18m jeans by 9 months.
See, chunk is good. Oliver hasn't chunked up nearly as much.

When I would touch the area where I got my epi like up to a few months after having Natalie it felt kind of like touching a not so bad bruise. It feels that way now when I touch where I got my spinal with Nolan. There is a 90% chance however that I am totally crazy and it's all in my head.

I had pain right after birth for quite a while. It felt like a bruise where the epi was. It went away eventually, but I feel like it was there for a long time.
A gained 12oz in her first 5 days and 2lbs 3oz in less than a month. She was never a super chunk and actually dropped from 75th percentile to 25th between her 4th and 5th month check ups and we had weight issues for a while. She's back up to 50th percentile these days.
I had soreness in my back but it was a generalized pain, so I was never sure if it was from the epidural. It went away after a couple of weeks.
G gained weight very quickly. She was 8lbs at birth and 20lbs by six months. She was in the 95th percentile for weight and 90th for height for a couple years. She is 7 now and 75th for weight and 80th for height. So she has dropped some percentiles, but is still larger than most of her classmates.
G started gaining on the 75% curve for the first 2 months, but then quickly dropped down to the 25% curve, then below 25% from 6 months to 18 months. Her pedi was starting to get concerned but now she's back up to slightly above 25% and he's happy with that.
I had a spinal with my c-section and never had any problems.
Madison started off perfectly 50th percentile and then rocketed into the 95%th percentile. At one point she was gaining a pound a week for something like 5-6 weeks. It was ridiculous! Now she's 80th percentile for weight. I have found it hard to buy ahead for her.
You also have to consider that proportions play into buying ahead, too. Madison has a long torso and short legs. She's in 3/4T shirts but buying her pants is a nightmare.

Evan was 7 lbs 8 ounces when he was born and 7 lbs 11 ounces on his 2 day check up. He was 14 lbs at his 2 month checkup. He continued to be at the top of the charts until he started crawling and walking. He slimmed down a lot and is now 50 percent for weight and 90 for height.
