Hey everyone. My short divorce story is that we filed at the end of February and had our hearing today at 3pm. We were called first and it was over in like 3 minutes. We did it all without a lawyer (technically I am a lawyer, but I do not do divorce law) and only had the associated costs with filing fees. It was relatively painless in some ways and super f'n painful in many others. I was strong while we discussed it with the judge and then when we went to sit down to wait for the bailiff to take us to file the decree, I started to cry. I had to return to work so I'm busy again and trying to think about other things.
Thanks everyone!! I have to work late tonight but I'm going to make a list of wonderful things to do this weekend. And maybe have some late night drinking too. Wine sounds perfect!
Thanks again, everyone! It really is bittersweet. And so bizarre to think about that I'm officially divorced. My goal is to focus on the positives and the three big ones for next month are that I'll be moving to my new house with DS, I'm restarting therapy, and I go on an all-girls vacation to New Orleans at the end of the month. I've never been and it will be my first vacation w/o xH as an adult. Super exciting!!
