Abby didn't used to be a picky eater, and Caleb has always been hit or miss, but the things they will refuse just floor me. Tonight I made perfectly good chicken stew and dumplings (for the first time!). They both love biscuits, but they turned up their noses at the dumplings. Whose children are these?
Who else is dealing with picky eaters? I know I'm not the only one.

At least it was fruit!
D is totally hit or miss with just about every food out there. Apparently my mil is currently making him an egg, he hasn't eaten an egg on about a year. I suspect they will be getting other random things for him in a few minutes.
Right here! My child had chicken nuggets and dip for lunch yesterday and ate it all. I made chicken nuggets and dip for dinner, and he didn't take one bite. He literally had a cheese stick for dinner. The nuggets will stay out for him to try again, but I doubt he will eat. He refused a pouch too, and got pissed because I said no Thomas snackies (fruit snacks).
His food today: half of a bowl of cereal Thomas snackies half a yogurt 5 pringles one spinach and apples pouch a cheese stick.
Not the healthiest or his best, but that's what I got in him. I'll be having a talk with our new pedi Tuesday.
Me! I don't even know what she eats anymore, she refused Mac and cheese yesterday. She seemed to be turning a corner maybe month ago but it's gotten worse again. She will always eat a granola bar for breakfast but nothing else is guaranteed.
We had pasta with a red cream sauce and chicken sausage. She ate 2 bites. Instead she asked for goldfish and 2 cereal bars. Oh well. She doesn't always eat what I make.

Max ate half of a banana dipped in ketchup and a mouthful of hot dog for dinner. It's actually more food than I have seen him eat in days. I'll take it.
Jack refused to eat lasagna tonight because it was in casserole form and not lasagna rolls.
Both of them will reliably eat anything covered in maple syrup, but unfortunately it's frowned upon to eat maple syrup three meals a day every day.
ruby412 I have no idea how to fix it and neither do the experts. Some say if you offer kids a variety early on, they won't have issues later. These people are wrong. Others think it may have some ties to genetics. I buy into this one because I also dealt with picky issues, both as a child and now. Particularly with vegetables, there are a lot I just can't get past.
It's weird, though. Abby used to love bell peppers, to the point where I almost once chopped her finger off because she tried to sneak one as I was cutting it. Now, she won't touch them unless we force her.
I made chicken baked with salsa and cheese on it and Matilda wouldn't eat any! Normally she loves meat. After flinging food, forks and such at us we released her from the chair and she immediately started asking for pouches and bananas. I refused but offered to give her a cheese stick. She rolled around on the floor screaming for a while then eventually accepted a cheese stick. Then she wanted guacamole and ate a bunch of it with cucumbers. Very weird all round
It's just so frustrating! She used to eat anything. I bf'd her until 13 months and had a really varied diet. I ate everything when pregnant. I don't get it!
She used to love cheese. Now she won't touch it. Won't touch a veggie. The other day she refused PB&J. What the heck, kiddo?! Basically the only foods I can always count on her eating are breakfast bars, yogurt, chicken nuggets, meatballs, buttered bread, pizza and fruit. Oh and pouches and pretzelfish/bunnies, of course!
If anyone finds the magic cure, please let me know!
Lincoln has become very picky but we had lasagna tonight and he ate it all and asked for seconds. Usually, he takes like 3 or 4 bites of dinner and says done.

It depends on the day here. The other night he ate one bite of dinner (and it was something I know he likes) and last night he ate his whole piece of fish plus part of mine (wouldn't touch the green beans though). I don't know. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
