Went for NT ultrasound today and technician said she "had a guess" as to which gender we're having. She told us (I told her I was all ears to hear her guess, even though we're not sure if we want to know!) and she said she thinks we're having a boy.
I would lean more toward crazy talk (although, perhaps with boys it's easier to tell). I'd be inclined not to trust their guess at this point. Baby (and it's nether regions) are still really small.
So, have fun with it, but don't paint the room!
Oh, and a poster on here recently had their tech take a guess at 14 weeks, and she ended up being wrong! So scary!

Well it was fun to hear her guess. She was this cute older Indian lady and she had her guess (and I've had my guess)... but that's all we're taking it for at this point. I told DH she might as well have been looking at a Magic 8 Ball, but I suppose it's probably more accurate than that.
I'll update you all when we do know (if we decide to find out for sure).
We had our NT scan at 13w and were told boy. The tech said she only had an 80% confidence in it. At that point it's easier to make the call for boy - there are lots of false positives for girls however.
So, I wouldn't buy anything but you have a good chance that she's right. You'll know for sure in a few weeks.
They told us at 12 weeks they thought they saw boy parts, but not to paint the nursery yet. It's possible at that point since boys are extra parts, but not really a guarantee.
It's definitely possible. My boy wasn't positioned well to see anything during our NT, but the nurse who did the blood draw asked if the sonographer made a call, so it must be somewhat common.
And ditto PP that a call for boy is much more reliable. Exciting!!
My tech wouldn't even guess at 12 weeks (for any baby, not just mine). From talking to other people though it seems like they're right more often than not, though definitely not 100% of the time. I think I heard 80/20 somewhere?

Eta: they were right for us.
Exactly this! Except girl and yes they were right.
BUT we are talking about this on my BMB and it seems that around 13w only 50% of them were told the correct gender. I guess the tech was right when she told us not to go buy pink yet.
My MFM doctor asked us if we wanted a guess. I was 13.5 weeks. I am team green so I said no. I think it's possible. Of course not 100% but still apparently you can tell.
At my NT the tech said "well if that's a girl it's the most swollen labia I have ever seen" She said 85% sure it's a boy and then one week later I had to go back and it was pretty obvious it's a boy.
