Interesting. Have not seen this. I am thinking of getting a concrete pig for our front yard, and dressing it up. I just want to hear what people say when they walk by. I am still pissed I missed the chance to buy an 8 foot stainless steel giraffe 10 years ago.
It appears to be a thing in my neighborhood to mow design into your front lawn. I find this odd
What kind of designs? That sounds really strange. Is it the homeowners doing it, or some type of landscaping service?
On my walk with Miso this morning I saw three different designs: the initials BJO, lightning bolt, and some kind of swirl. The design is left to grow and everything around it is cut. #oxfordcomma

So when it is a foot tall, can you actually make out the design, or does it look like the person who mowed the lawn got a little tipsy and missed a section?

That would be even better. No need to give directions, just tell people to come to the dinosaur house. It is a good thing I have DH to moderate my "yard art".

So strange! Maybe it's a competition between friends to have the best lawn design.
I had a couple of random observations at Costco tonight that made me lol. In the cold produce section there was a very sexy looking guy looking at cucumbers. He picked up a giant cucumber and must have been reading the label, but the end of it was right near his crotch, and you can imagine what it looked like. I think he realized it just as I was passing, moved the cucumber and looked embarrassed while I tried not to laugh.
Then, as I turned the corner into the toilet paper aisle there were 4 college age guys facing each other, with their wallets open, trying to scrounge up enough cash for toilet paper. It's was like that awkward moment when you are trying to split the check between stingy people, but you could tell they really needed TP!
During bluebonnet season, you will see patches of lawns in the area not being mowed that are over grown with wildflowers. I sort of get that. It's only a short time.
Our HOA sent letters via regular mail and certified mail to our entire subdivision telling us how home ownership was a huge responsibility and that we all had some yards that needed to be attended to...Of course we are Level 3 drought and people try to give the grass a bit of a chance, but they were big time assholes about it. I guarantee what you are describing would NEVER fly here.
That looks like the person mowing the lawn was drunk and gave up early.
The short part has been mowed several times.
I think the family's 12 year old is in charge of mowing the lawn. I can understand once or letting it sit for a day but not growing for weeks. Are they hoping a helicopter will see it?
