yes, I called, but there's no help for it, and no windows. And no other rooms in town.
Uh, what?? They don't have someone who can come fix the air? I would request that they move me to another room (understanding that they don't have another one available), and, when they couldn't, I would be requesting that my stay for the unairconditioned nights be complimentary (but I live in FL where it would be MISERABLE without air conditioning).

Ugh. I am so sorry you had to deal with that. A few years back when my oldest was around 18 months we booked a room at a hotel that was "non smoking". When we checked in the whole room reeked of smoke and everything was saturated in cigarette smoke. We went to the front desk and the only other room they had available was a pet friendly room. Apparently pet friendly meant that the last occupant let their dog pee all over the carpet and the hotel did not clean it before allowing it to be occupied again. There were no other hotel rooms available within a 50 mile radius. So we had to spend the night in the dog pee room with the air on blast and the windows cracked open as far as we could get them.
Side note: I didn't realize there were smoker rooms anymore. Did you, perhaps, travel back in time?
So sorry SueSue - those are the worst. Hopefully they can find you a different room today??
Years ago, back when restaurants still had smoking sections, for my grandfather's funeral we ended up with a smoking room that my smoking mother refused to let us stay in. (She didn't smoke inside) she walked in and promptly walked out it was that bad.
Stupid PA still has them. We have to be careful with what we book. DH learned that the hard way when, despite requesting/booking/prepaying a non smoking room (me calling to say he would be arriving later) when he arrived to check in (he was at a wedding, had to go yo the rehearsal and dinner before checking in and had driven straight from work) They'd given his reserved room to someone else and only had smoking rooms. He wasn't happy, being him he opened the window and kept everything in the suitcase and out his bag back in the car during the wedding. He had changed hotels to be closer to the venue when we figured out I couldn't go (he didn't need a kitchen.) The previous hotel was a non smoking property.
I'm in Columbia; I was late arriving for my reservations, and the hotel I usually stay at gave away my room despite calling me to verify I was coming. Theres several conventions in town, everyone was booked full, to the next town over about 30 miles away. I got this place in town, couple have taken the nonsmoking suite for 200 dollars, but I thought, NOOOO, save the 100 dollars. FOOL
Oh hell no. I'd be calling that hotel today. There is no reason that this should've happened, especially since you are a repeat customer. I've worked in hotels and I would bend backwards for our regs.
