Wow, I am surprised by how low some of these figures are. We went over President's Day weekend last Feb. and spent around 8500. We did eat almost every meal out (excluding breakfast but even Starbucks at Disney is $$ I guess ) but we stayed in a suite at AoA. I guess that's why you shouldn't go at a peak time! Lol.
We're planning to go back in the fall of 2015 and spend about the same except be at a hotel on the monorail this time. Just to experience something different.
I think it makes a big difference when your kids can still get in free obviously. And food is a huge expense down there.
Lol definitely. Even kid meals were like 20-25 there. It's crazy. We had such a good time though, I'm excited to go back. They know what they're doing that's for sure
Roughly 10k? Yikes. We leave in two weeks. Family of four, one of those four is under three so technically free
7 nights at the beach club resort (which is only a deluxe because of the pool from what I hear, I don't think we'd choose that pricey again) with a meal plan (1 snack, 1 counter service, and one table service meal per day plus a refillable mug) and seven day park passes: 5k.
Airfare is another 1500 for four seats from Chicago to Orlando
3500.00 extra budgeted for ancillaries and tips (really hoping we don't spend ALL of it)
We spent $1900 on the hotel, park tickets (5 day non hopper) and airfare (we only bought one ticket because we had miles and a companion pass for the 3 of us). We stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter. We rented a car which was ~$125 for 7 days thru Costco--so we could go to Target for water/snacks and also eat off property. (We did do 3 character meals though)
I highly recommend AAA for booking Disney vacations--they saved us a ton even from the prices on Disney's website. We also got free preferred parking at the parks, a guide book and a coupon for $10 off at the gift shop.
We spent <$3000 for Sat to Sat. This is without the cost of boarding our dogs.
Hmmm. Free dining starts 2 days into our 5 day trip. I wonder if we can use it for the last 3 days?
Check with your travel agent. I think the FD date has to be on your first day of the trip for it it apply. So you can plan a trip on the last day of free dining and have it apply to your whole trip, but not vice versa. I think.
Oh boo. Thanks for the info. We can't push it back at all bc my sis is running in the half.
Dh does all our disney planning. He is on dis boards all the time, and is the type to start thinking about the next trip before we even leave the property. We are booking a trip for this November with hopefully free dining. Free airfare with miles. 2 adults, a five year old and a 14 mo old (free) 8 days, 7 nights at a moderate should be around $3k. That is including 7 day park passes. We are not doing the water park and more option this time, and unsure about paying extra for park hopper passes. The parks close earlier in November, and with a young toddler I'm not sure we will want to bounce around too much. Oh, and dd1 will do bibbidi boppity boutique with her birthday money. We will probably do the tomorrowland dessert party too.
With kids that young, I wouldn't bother with a park hopper. Chances are a full day at one park will be enough for them.

It's probably the race that's throwing off the free dining dates for you! Disney knows those rooms will be filled for the race so they don't need to offer an incentive.
True, true. We'll probably just use her race discount for our tickets so at least it will be a little something. We budgeted for the full, non-discounted price and are using Amex points for our flights so it's all good.
