Did your H go to 1st appointment?

H and I aren't sure of he should come tomorrow. My feelings won't be hurt if he doesn't (it's actually more convenient if he doesn't bc of work and transportation), but I don't want him to feel he missed something. My impression is that the nurse will meet with me for an informational session. I'm not even sure there will be an ultrasound. The lady who scheduled me said it should take about an hour for the appointment.

H hasn't been able to make any of them. He did plan on taking of from work to go to the big 20 week anatomy scan but since he missed so much work from having the flu last week that is now out. So I think the first time he will be with me is when I deliver!

My husband only comes to the anatomy scan at 20ish weeks. This time I think he came to the dating scan at 8 weeks. The 3 kids come to just about every appointment because we home school so they are always with me. Most of the appointments are quick and not worth the effort for him to get there.

H was out of town when I had my first appointment, so he obviously didn't come. He also hasn't come any of my other appointments, but is going to come to the anatomy scan.

I'd call your OB and ask what they prefer. At my office they do a complete family health history at the first appointment so they can recommend certain tests or screening based on it. My packet of info asked for the father to come to be able to address the history on his side.

6.5 weeks so I'm not sure if I"ll have the ultrasound...maybe too early?

I had an u/s at the first appointment (8 weeks). DH came because he wanted to be there in case there was more than one fetus in my womb. This was information he didn't want to receive secondhand.

Only for ultrasound appointments. You're still 5-6 weeks, right? I would not expect an ultrasound. With #1, the first appt was just confirmation and meeting with a nurse.

Whoops, I missed your post. 6.5 is still pretty early for an ultrasound, so I'd assume you won't have one.

My h came to the first appt and all the scans.
He did really like hearing the heartbeats and seeing them.

My husband came to the first appointment, and to the anatomy scan. With this pg, I had an ultrasound at 6w exactly and saw the heartbeat. He really wanted to be there to see the baby and hear the heart beat.

He was also at the first appointment of my first pregnancy, and we did not get good news. I was glad to have him there, and wouldn't have wanted to have to share that news over the phone.

First pregnancy- he came to almost every appt. but he had a part time job and we were able to schedule appts on his days off.

This pregnancy- he's come to one appt that was the same day as the anatomy scan but not any others. I'm fine with it. If it were a high risk pregnancy it would be more important to me but the appts are like 5 min- weight, blood pressure, pee in a cup, measure my belly, any questions? That's it.

I'm probably an outlier here, but my first appointment wasn't until 10.5 weeks. I had a phone call with a nurse prior to the appointment to go over all the family history questions and was told they would just listen for the heartbeat at the first OB apt, so wasn't expecting an ultrasound.

But turned out my OB did an ultrasound at the appointment and found out then that we are having twins. So, I was really happy to have him there with me to hear the news! My doctor also sat down with us in her office to give a lot of info about how the practice works and to answer questions so it was good to have DH there to hear all the info as well.

Nope. My first appt included a full pelvic exam and a bunch of bloodwork. He didn't miss anything

Yes but I saw an RE so had an ultrasound at 6 weeks. We found out it was twins so was glad he was there. He hasnt come since though and I've gone every 2 weeks. I will have him come a couple times to the OB for ultrasounds but not regular appts. His work schedule is hard though.

My very first appointment was a "pregnancy confirmation" which was very basic. DH didn't come.

He has been to all of the others, except the 2 hour glucose test.

The only ones I really wanted him there for were the ultrasounds, but he owns his own business and I always schedule my appointments for evenings or weekends so it's easy for him to join. I like having him there so he can meet everyone in the practice (4 OB's, 1 NP, 1 midwife) and have his questions answered. It is also nice to have another set of ears processing information, but I would absolutely feel fine going alone.

I had an ultrasound at my first appointment at 7 weeks, and it was nice for him to be able to hear the heartbeat too. I would call and ask what to expect at the appointment; if it's just blood draws and a pelvic exam there's no reason for him to be there.

H isn't coming, but I still hope there's an ultrasound!

My H has been to all my appointments. It has been important to him to go. H has a flexible job so it has worked out. I'm glad H went to the first one because we were able to see the baby at our first appointment at 8 weeks.

This time DH only came is to my panic freak out appointment at 8.5 weeks when I had spotting. He wanted to be there to support me if I had a loss. Our schedules are super busy.

Mine did, but I knew I was getting an ultrasound. He went to the all the appointments in the beginning until the a/s. I'm really glad he went in the beginning with me, first pregnancy and I wanted him there. After that it just hasn't been worth it because its just weight, pee, blood pressure, measure belly, questions. Lasts 5 minutes with the doctor (and 20-30 waiting for them).

Not the first because it was at 5.5 weeks and I knew we wouldn't see a HB yet on the US. Second US at 7 weeks, he went. (I was seeing a RE so that was reason for two early US)

I had an u/s at 6w. For an hour-long appt, I'd probably expect one.

DH has been to all of my appts. I keep telling him he reeeeally doesn't have to, especially the 3-second ones with just a doppler hb check. He insists, though.

First pregnancy- He came to the first appointment and everything seemed to be going perfectly so he sat that one out. I had a mm/c...because of that he now goes to all appointments involving ultrasounds, which for this pregnancy is quite frequent (so far we will have one at 6 weeks, 7 weeks, 8 1/2 weeks, 10 weeks, and 12 1/2 weeks). Our 15 week appt is optional for DH (per my wishes) but when I said that he still insisted on being there. We are lucky that he has a very awesome and understanding boss who has pretty much demanded that he be at all my appointments (she knows about both of our losses).

Good luck today! Hope you get an ultrasound and your appointment goes perfectly! I had my first u/s at 6 wks exactly and saw/heard the heartbeat so definitely a chance to see a heartbeat at 6 1/2 weeks!

If you mean the beta blood draws - no.  If you mean the ultrasound - yes.  He's been there for the dating u/s, the NT scan and will be there tomorrow for the a/s.  I figure if we get bad news I want him there, and it's pretty freakin' awesome to see the kiddo on the u/s.
