No, I don't think we've ever used actual diaper rash cream. We CD, I do use EMAB Bottom Balm after every poop and after a bath, but he's never had a true diaper rash.
My mom does. She has been over helping quite a bit and a first jar of cream is already finished. The baby is one month old. Wtf? I don't even use it because I use cloth diapers (my mom refuses and puts him in a disposable every time she changes him).

No. And I asked the pedi about it at one of the early visits and he said only to use if there's a rash. DS has never had a rash. A few times we put Vaseline on when he started STTN, but even that didn't seem necessary so we stopped.
We apply A&D ointment at most diaper changes and Butt Paste if she's had a poopy diaper. DD had what looked like to me a really bad diaper rash at 5 weeks. When I found it, I felt so horrible because she was screaming at diaper changes for a week and I didn't notice why. The pedi office recommended the creams at every diaper change so we do it. Since the rash, we also switched to using water and makeup remover pads or disposable washcloths to wipe her.
Her skin is so soft and moist. Recently her arms have become very dry so we've been keeping her slathered in Aquaphor in the day time hoping that the skin on her arms will become the same.

I only do it after she poops, if the stick is within arms reach. Sometimes its in the diaper bag or downstairs. She only had a rash for a bit and that's because I didn't rinse the bleach out of her diapers well enough.
She's really only had one bad rash and that was due to antibiotics - we ended up needing to call the pedi, who called in nystatin - if your kid has a terrible rash, just call for the good stuff. Don't buy a tube of everything people keep telling you is "AMAZING!"* or you will end up with 7 tubes of diaper cream you never use up, unless you are pp who uses it every time.
*purple desitin and a&d ointment are exempt from this rule. they do work. boudreaux's butt cream, flanders butt cream, balmex, blue desitin, and whatever else is floating around in DD's dresser did not.

No way. I read when DD1 was tiny that you shouldn't use it much because over use can cause their little bums to be even more sensitive -- like, they get used to that barrier, so when they don't have it their skin can't handle it.
DD1 got yeast diaper rashes a lot, so I used Clotrimazole on her pretty often, but Desitin did nothing for her.
DD2 recently got a rash from antibiotics, and I was so used to the yeast rashes from DD1 I was accustomed to Desitin not doing anything -- I was shocked when it cleared it right up!
I only use something if things are red or irritated down there.
Dd has always pooped A LOT, like every diaper change. She had a pretty bad rash at 3 weeks and we used diaper cream at most changes since then. She just started pooping a little less often so now we only use it at night and Vaseline or aquaphor all other times.
My MIL slathers the stuff on everywhere at almost every change. I feel like they smell like destin and it always takes me a few extra wipes to get it all of after they have spent some time with her.

Nope. Only when red, which happened a handful of times with each kid. DS has never had a full on rash. DD had a yeast rash once, but other than that no issues.
I had no clue some people use it every single time. I've never heard of that! We use a CD safe cream, even when we stopped CDing. I wonder if people use Desitin every single diaper change? Thats a lot of chemicals on their skin that many times a day....and I usually don't worry about things like that.
Every change, but O has pretty sensitive skin. She'll turn red pretty quickly if there's not a barrier on her bum. It's a pretty thin layer, she's 10 months and we're on our second tube of Boudreaux's, so I don't feel like we're drowning her bits in cream.
