There was a post about this recently and you are going to get drastically different answers. We are going in Dec, staying at Art of Animation, and spending 1600 for 4 nights, 3 days at the park, family of 5 (one under 3).

This seems like a really good deal. Are you getting a food package?

No food included in that. I haven't figured out our food and day to day expenses, but expect that to bump that number up quite a bit!
Recent trip was 4500 for 4 adults 1 child under 3 renting points at OKW - 2 studios with 5 day PHs and Dining Plan. Does not include tips, alcohol, souveniers, or flights ( miles)
September Trip just under 3K 2 adults 1 child rented points Studio at BLT 6 day Hoppers does not include food or alcohol or souveniers
December 12 trip 2400 Rented points Studio OKW, 6 day Hoppers did not include food or flights ( miles)
It does vary depending on a lot of factors. DH and I (w/ DS) could stay on property, with free dining, at Pop Century for $1600. But I WAAAAAAAAAANT (use the Veruca Salt voice here) to stay at AKL or Polynesian, so that ups the bill easily to $3500 - $4500 depending on how many nights and if dining is free and how many days we go to the park. We don't have to fly (we can be in Orlando in under 8 hours, and on 1 tank of fuel) so that saves us $$$$, and if you stay on property, you don't pay to park there.
Sad Kat.
Staying off-property and sharing a condo would obviously cut down on the nightly room rate. You'll probably spend more on food, if you only eat in the parks. If you have a kitchen, you can stock up on groceries. You CAN bring in your own food to the parks, but not coolers (right?). You'll pay to park on-site. Single day park visits vs a park hopper ticket will be cheaper.
We did 6 days/7 nights for a family of four (one infant) in June last year. $3800 for flights, value hotel, meal plan, and 5 day non park hopper passes.

This is late but, where did you stay? That sounds like a great price.

We stayed at this off site house www.vrbo.com/171904 It was super clean, it was great having a private pool and it's about 20 min from Disney. The owner is also super nice and attentive and has a handyman who lives just a mile or so away. Since you could carry in food/drinks, we carried in juice boxes, soda, water, and snack food. We packed it in a small soft sided cooler. There is a grocery store and CVS about .2 miles away.
You do need a car, but we got a minivan at Dollar for about $400.
Definitely research the accomodations. My CW's neighbor recently returned from Disney w/bed bugs. They had to tent and heat their whole house - not sure whether she got the resort to pay.

That can happen anywhere. And it's common sense that anywhere there's a ton of people going through those hotels will have bed bugs. Even super expensive hotels get them. The best thing is to leave your bags in the hall with your family and have somebody go in and inspect the room before bringing stuff in. If you find any evidence, ask for a new room.
Our exterminator gave me a pack of bed bug testing strips too that I take whenever I travel. The look kinda like air fresheners packs, and are supposed to attract bed bugs if in your room/luggage. I keep them sealed in a ziplock and take them out and leave them in our suitcases when we leave the hotel. Supposedly the bugs will be attracted and become embedded if present. I always check the strips in our garage before bringing our bags inside. Not sure how reliable they are, but haven't gotten any bed bugs yet!
We did a last minute trip last month. Ended up at a value (pop century) for $150 a night. We bought annual passes because we have another trip planned, so they were expensive, but you can get a park passes for a week for around $350 each.
The dining plan isn't worth it for us, so we paid for meals OOP. We had a car, so we went to the store and got milk and stuff for breakfast, ate a QS lunch and table service dinner most nights.
Flights were on Spirit and were aroun $200 each for round trip.

But I can't find the exact same ones we have online. I'll have to ask him where he gets them!
Thanks! I'm always paranoid I'm going to bring them home from work. I work in a hospital and it seems like we have an infestation every other week. I do labor and delivery, and I feel like I'm in patients rooms more, and for longer periods of time and more up close to them than some other types of nurses.
Ugh, I feel you on that. We've had a few inpatients come from know infested homes. I wear MRSA attire when it happens, but I doubt that keeps bed bugs away. I change at work, but I should still probably put a strip in my locker and my car.
6 nights/7 days, with park hopper for $5k. We had 4 adults (SS was 17 and mil went with us), one child and one under 3 child. We stayed at ft wilderness cabins and had the meal plan with one sit down meal one quick serve and a snack.
$1070 for Old Key West (suite w kitchen and W/D) for 6 days/5 nights (rented DVC points) $700 for 3 people on the deluxe meal plan for 5 days $900 for regular MYW tickets for 5 days $200 for Bibbety bobbity boutique Free air (miles)
Approx $2900. Then estimate another $300 or so for tips, food and wine at Epcot and random shit.
I wish we could rent DVC points! We could, but my mother in law was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and I am a little wary about locking into a vacation 11 months in advance. I guess I feel like I need the flexibility that booking a regular room comes with, just in case we need to reschedule.
What are dvc points? This trip planning seems confusing. I'm not sure about meal plans or anything.
For 6 nights, We had a 2 bed, 2 bath suite on the Savannah side of Animal Kingdom Lodge, 5 days of park hopper passes, 1 sit down, one fast meal and 1 snack per day was about $8k during peak season. Airfare was another $4k. Spending money was another $2k.
even if you have a meal plan, you are still expected to tip the waitstaff on the "full price" of the meal. We ate at one of the buffets (ie minimal wait service) and we were billed about $180 for 3 adults and 2 children. It was offset against meal plan credits but we still tipped for a $180 meal. The tipping adds up VERY quickly at Disney so budget that in.
