Hopefully this gives everyone time to read the book. It's currently $4.01 from Amazon for the kindle edition ($4.99 for paperback).
Bookclub time! I have to confess that I didn't get finished reading it, so I hope others were more responsible than I was.
One thing I'm always struck by is her ability to tell a story. In depth and detail and richness that sucks me in from the beginning.
My question to kick us off is this - I know a lot of us read this book as younger adolescents. Has your perception of the book changed now that you're an adult?
Just pop in. We've done this a couple of times before. Usually a thread is started and we all just post whatever we want to talk about from the book in it.

I am in, I downloaded the book yesterday. But I will probably have to read it like on the 20th or else I will totally forget everything before the discussion. Sometimes my brain is like that of a goldfish.

I find Maya Angelou to be so inspirational, and I know several of her quotes but I've actually never read one of her books. I'm almost finished Lean In, and I've just bought I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. As soon as Lean In is finished I'll start, and I'm looking forward to my first MA book. Thanks for starting this!

Also, I'll still tell you I remember that incest scene vividly. Chapter 9 or 10? I'm willing to be proven wrong. It just stood out in my mind so much as an innocent 15 year old.

sushi - this seems like a perfectly logical reason to have a Kindle. Just sayin'
Oh, I do have a kindle. I also have access to philadelphia free library for lots of free online rentals. My local library is where I'm on a waitlist. The Phil library puts me at months away on rental.
But, regardless, I've indeed purchased the kindle version
