"Seriously just read a post from someone who posted her gofundme page to send her and her husband on a honeymoon because they had to use their honeymoon money for income because of a back surgery. Seriously? I'm not normally this insensitive but is this what the upcoming generation thinks is worthy of a gofundme page???"

I have realized the issue with these go fund me campaigns.
If someone said to me, "Hey Bob and Sally are awesome and have hit a rough time I thought it would be nice if we could get them a gift certificate for a weekend away/an airline ticket/something for a honeymoon let me know if you want to throw something into the pot" I would think they were doing something nice. I may even contribute if Bob and Sally were nice people, I had the money, etc.
Because the internet has made people have no shame some crazies have taken go fund me to be the same freaking thing as the above situation. Someone needs to tell them it is not.

How has society evolved to the point that people think that other people need to finance every desire a person has? If you want something, save up $ for it, FFS.
I also don't really understand people not feeling embarrassed? What happened to feeling too proud?
Everyone who does this shit should get a copy of Cinderella Man and be forced to watch that scene where Russell Crowe gives his daughter his fried bologna because she's still hungry. Even though he has to go out and find day labor on an empty stomach.
They should have to watch that on repeat before asking friends and strangers to buy them a tropical honeymoon.
This would be a good place to say that the pool fundraiser has not raised one cent. So yay for that!
I haven't checked the fundraiser for the dog expenses though.
My SIL's friend posted a pool fundraiser last week. They thankfully have not gotten any money. The best part was that she wanted to teach her son how to save up for things they want. Umm, it sounds like you are teaching him to beg not save.
Didn't Smace start a GoFundMe (or another crowdsource page) for people to just give her money? How's that going?
For what?
Just for shits and giggles. There was another thread talking about ridiculous GoFundMe pages, and she started one saying something like "I just want money, and I'm lazy." I tried looking for it, but I can't remember which site she used.
There's one up now where CPS has taken the woman's kids and she claims to not know why, but suspects it's because they don't understand/appreciate her "nomadic lifestyle," which she wishes to continue. One of the kids has diabetes ... Hard to check that blood sugar when you're homeless ...
Another is a legal defense fund set up by the of-course-wrongfully-accused guy's "loving for all eternity" wife. Google his name and the story is: they were having a domestic, wife ran screaming to the neighbor's, the neighbor shot the husband in the leg when he charged the front door, and then the husband attacked the paramedic, as witnessed by the police. And they've raised like $400.
