Seriously. H and I both need refills. I was at Costco today and they were like $40 for each. Granted, there was something like 20 cartridges in each, but that is still insane to me.
I don't like electric razors.
Is there another option? I mean beyond H going all Duck Dynasty or me looking like Sasquatch? A cheaper brand that works well?
Side note: there was some older gentlemen looking razors at the same time and he kept muttering, "this is highway robbery." We had a moment of shared WTF.

Order online?
I dunno. DH had to buy razor blades this weekend as well and he came home grousing about how expensive it was. Buying online was the only option we could think of.
Ugh, I know. I try to save up my store points and use them for razors because I hate spending money on them. I also put them in H's stocking at xmas since I have to buy something for the stocking anyway.

shoegal bought some cheap online razors that she said were good; the online reviews sounded decent enough to give them a try. H and I are both about to have to buy some, so I was just about to try to find her old post.

My H uses Dollar Shave Club. He has the $6/month plan. It took him a few weeks to get used to the razors because they're a slightly different shape from his old razors (Mach 3 Turbo). He's been happy with the service overall. DSC automatically send the blades once per month, so DH never runs out or uses a blade past its prime anymore.
I ordered an extra handle for myself and used the razors for a few weeks. I had to stop because I was getting razor burn. I wish they would come out with a line for the ladies.
I use dollar shave club, but I kind of think that men's blades shave closer than women's, so I get razor burn more often.
Same here. H likes it, but I have had crazy razor burn, so I stopped using them. H has never had a problem.
I was starting to wonder if there was something wrong with me. Do you get razor burn with girl razors? @gypsy, it's really cheap - $6 for 5 razors and they send them monthly or semi monthly. But I get razor burn, so I don't know if you're super sensitive it may not be great. thinkofthesoldiers - I'm torn. It's a great deal, but my skin hasn't been loving them lately. I may try the deluxe version (right now I get the mid range ones).

Lurker, but I've got to chime in here. Check out Dorcousa.com! I've been using them for almost 2 years after I could no longer stomach the cost of venus. Every time I've ordered, the package included a handwritten thank you note and then a free thank you item was mailed a few weeks later (once was a disposable razor and once was a set of eyebrow trimmer things). Nice touches on the purchase of cheap razor cartridges.
I've used both the six blade and the four blade systems. I liked the 4 blade better and bought a years's worth of cartridges at once last fall. My handle finally broke (still usable, but a little piece is broken so the razor head doesn't flex anymore) after well over a year of use. Never had an issue with razor burn.
ETA: They also run specials pretty regularly. When I ordered my year's worth it was because they had a 25% off code on their FB page. Even cheaper!

I just ordered my H the Frugal Dude pack from Dorcousa for Father's Day. It's a variety pack so he could figure out which ones he likes the best before we order more. It shipped to me even in Canada super fast free shipping. He's very happy with them so far and says we never have to go back to the expensive refills again. I grabbed a trial kit for me too. I've just used it once but it seems just as good as the name brand razors I've been using.
I just checked my email from them and I have this link: dorcousa.refr.cc/QTV2TS9 that's good until the 30th. You get 15% off using my link (and I get 3%) You don't have to use it though, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case someone wants 15% off.

No, I don't usually get razor burn at all. I was telling a coworker about it and she's all "yeah, men's razors can do that to you." I had no clue.

We spent $70 at Art of Shaving for a razor for DH and then he went to eBay and bought a variety pack of blades to go with it. He bought the variety pack right before Christmas for $15 and still has enough blades to go a few more months. He shaves M-F for work.
I spend a crap ton more because I'm still using my Shick Intuition. He's trying to convince me to switch over to something similar though.
I have to admit, he had problems with his skin before he switched, but these blades have made his skin so much clearer. I think he feels smoother too. I have issues with my legs when I shave them and that alone is enough to make me seriously consider switching over.
