I just went to start doing dishes so I can leave this afternoon and nothing came out of the hot water tap. Cold water works, but that's it. Just called the super, and a pump broke and flooded the basement. It's going to be 3-4 hours until it gets fixed. Fuuuuck. I just wanted to clean, shower, and get on the road. Booooo!

That sucks, MN! I guess you're not a big fan of cold showers. Because you are sane.
As expected, there's practically nobody at work today.
Sad random: in a nearby small town this morning, there was a fireworks accident. I haven't heard if it was the set up for tomorrow night, a fireworks stand, or a truck carrying fireworks. There was one fatality and many other people burned in need of care-flight. They've cancelled the fireworks display and all other festivities for tomorrow.

That accident sounds awful, hopefully everyone who is injured makes it out okay.
Speaking of fireworks... Our dog got out last night, and someone called in with her tag number and said they weren't sure when they could, but they would try to bring her to the Humane Society. I seriously feel like my chest is going to explode just waiting for that call. Fireworks scare her, and they must have started going off in our neighborhood early, because my boyfriend got a call as he was leaving work. When we got home she had broken the screen, climbed out our second story window on to the roof and gotten down somehow.

Thanks guys, I'm really hoping for the best since someone called her in last night. I'm hoping that they did in fact keep her and will bring her in.
A weird part of me is also upset that people might judge us for being bad dog owners if they know she got out. But seriously, who thinks their dog is going to jump out of a second story window? She must have been so afraid.
This morning before work I tried making that treat on Pinterest where you put chocolate chip cookie dough at the bottom of a cupcake tin, then Oreo, then brownie batter. Turned out pretty good, and I made snicker doodle and oatmeal raisin cookie dough so I can bake them when I get home from work. I'll have about an hour to bake them all before DH gets home and we hit the road.
I really want to try that first one, but I'm not sure if it will be a sugar overload. Now that I know someone has tried them in real life and they turned out pretty okay, I might have to do it.

lexxasaurus - I hope you get that call soon! milsaroo - all of those sound tasty! I am jealous!!
My random, apparently big boss man gave everyone the opportunity to work from home today. Except for myself and the office manager. :^) So I am here, but not totally working. I probably would have been more productive had I been able to WFH, to be honest.

Why didn't he give you that option?!
No clue, I wasn't here yesterday, but the office manager was (who is technically my direct boss), and she was blindsided. She called big boss man at 10 to sort of tattle that we were the only two here, and he responded "Oh yeah, I said everyone could work from home."
Even better? She had to cancel her vacation plans for this week since we are short staffed, and there had been management briefings that were earlier in the week.

I would be even more pissed if I were her!
Same, which is why I am taking it in stride, and just being unproductive. She did leave for lunch at 11:45 and I will be surprised if I see her back much before 2.

That's a perfect way to handle it...on both of your parts!
I am stuck in the friggen office because some lame ass "lost his car keys" and is running late. Our secretary is out with a bad back today. Hmph! So much for a long holiday weekend.
In other news, I am running a 4 mile race tomorrow and I haven't run in forever! Ah!
