My apartment complex has one laundry room. There are multiple 6 apartment buildings on 2 blocks that share it. Over time you see the same faces in there. It does not provide any sort of detergent vending, you must bring your own and it uses a card system which there is a machine to add money.
So....There was a couple in there today with a small child that I've never seen before. The woman was saying she didn't know which ones were the washer or the dryers. (It's pretty obvious). Then she told me that because she has a baby, she didn't have detergent and asked to use mine. I only bring a small amount in a container from my big ass costco jug, so I didn't have any to share. Another neighbor left theirs on top of a machine and she asked if that was mine too. I said no and she took it and used it. ^o) I come back to toss stuff in dryer and see these people on the steps eating ice cream. One of my washers was stopped, the clothes were not washed and it was unplugged. There was a huge blob of ice cream and smashed up ice cream cone on the floor. By the time I came outside, they were gone. I called the management office and left a message that I need to speak to them --they're off because of the holiday weekend. Wtf?
I'll say the one positive of having to move back home with my parents is the laundry situation.
The last time I had a common area laundry. The kids in the complex had an indoor water balloon fight in the basement area of the laundry. It was a mess and of course on my day. I couldn't call management in my own because of a language issue. But it was cleaned soon after.
