When I first met DH he wore tube socks. With shorts. With tennis shoes. Drove me nuts. He was in his 20s. Guys in their 20s, or ever, for that matter should never wear that combo. He swore he hated his feet and would never wear flip flops. Now he wears them all the time. He now also wears the little no show socks when he wears shoes. He even says they're the comfiest socks he has. Which I will have to disagree. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to keep them on my feet. Ha.

i had to break him of pleated pants. that was a tough one.
now, the only stuff he wears i hate are some old band tees...evanescence isn't cool anymore man. time to let it go. BUT he doesn't wear them much, most of his weekend tee and jeans uniform are tees i've gotten him with nerdy stuff on them.
Yeah the sock thing was definitely something I changed with FI lol. Tall white socks and tennis shoes? How about you get yourself some short socks already.
He refuses to wear flip flops. You know those videos of dogs wearing booties where they walk all ridiculous? That's pretty much what FI looks like when he attempts to wear flip flops lol. So needless to say he owns no sandals. I did get him to buy a pair of Sperry's which he likes so that's a plus.
H wore skater type shoes for casual running around on the weekends (several that were high tops). Nothing wrong with that in general but he's not a skater and he's in his mid-30's. I finally introduced him to Converse, he was reluctant at first but now lives in them. lol Now he owns 3 pairs in different colors lol
Hmm when we first met, we were 20 and he would wear "doo rags" that matched his outfit. It drove me INSANE. I told him I wouldn't date him if he continued to wear them. Thank goodness he stopped and then would wear hats instead.
Now...I would say I pretty much like H's style. He's definitely a more casual dresser than I am, but I think it works for us. He's most comfortable in a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt.
Lol this is my H. He will not wear thong flip flops ever. He does have a pair of those slide in Nike sandals that he will wear around the house or to take the dog out for a quick walk. Otherwise on vacation, you will not catch him in a pair of flip flops.

Lol, FI currently has a pair of "skater" shoes from Target. I don't really mind them all that much, but it's definitely not the type of person he is. Thankfully they've just about had it (along with a few of his other pairs of shoes) so I think after the wedding we'll go shoe shopping for him

He always wants to wear tank top style Harley shirts- UM NO-I will let him wear the tanks that look like the sleeves are cut off so to speak but not tank or wife beater style-so I buy his Harley shirts to make sure he wears the types I want him to wear LOL AND he always wants to wear dorky looking old man jeans-so no-I buy his jeans too, in fact I buy all of his clothes so no matter what he picks out I will approve-may sound a bit drastic buy hey!! So I always say he may wear the pants in the family but I pick them out for him!
My H had an affinity for Hawaiian shirts, carpenter/painter jeans, and the fugly style Tevas. They have been replaced with Life is Good shirts (marginally better), Lucky 181s and flip flops. A lot of his pre-me clothes were quite tragic. Even the outfit he had on in his match.com profile pic was awful! Ugh, and his hair. He has gorgeous wavy hair and he had basically a crew cut for years.
DH is weird about sleeve length and shirt lenght. He has to do the lift his arms over his head to see if it ends up showing his stomach. Ha. Also he's got a weird hangup about button placement on polos. Short sleeves have to go to a certain spot on his arm. And we wonder why DS is so particular about his clothing choices. No buttons. No collars. No zippers. He has now started saying he doesn't want to wear certain colors. No freaking way. He's already limited what we can dress him in. I"ll be damned if he limits what colors we put him in now.

LOL! Mine too. Yellow was the worst. Hilarious.
Outside of wearing things larger than his size, which was typical and in style then, he was pretty fine then, fine now.
I forgot this part. H used to wear pants that were too baggy and made him look like he had no tush as well as button ups being too big as well as polos. Thank goodness he actually dresses now in clothes that fit him and flatter him. lol
Oh and if DH finds something that he likes which is like once every 5 years because that's how often he shops, he'll buy five of that item. Ha because he hates shopping.
Just yesterday I kindly suggested hubs take off the ankle socks he was wearing under his slip-on vans. I wouldn't mind if they were the sporty hidden kind, but these went up above his ankle bones.

Dear god yes! On our first date (it was a blind date) he had on a Hawaiian shirt, pleated khaki's and those flat skater sneaker shoes. It was not cute, but I got drunk enough to stick around.
There isn't anything I hate about his clothes now. He does still LOVE his Hawaiian shirts and wear them frequently, I could do without some of those. And he refuses to wear tennis shoes or sneakers which doesn't make sense when we are like hiking or camping or playing kickball really.
Yep my DH wore tube socks with shorts. He did this on the 4th & I told him he couldn't leave our house or his moms. He laughed & told me he did it to annoy me.
He use to tuck in every tshirt. Ugh. He wore mismatched clothes. Black & chocolate brown - omg my BIGGEST pet peeve.
He has come along way in 8 years. Bachelorhood & living in the desert were not good for him. He said it was easier to be a soldier bc he had one outfit to wear lol He feels he has way too many clothes - which he does not!
DH has made quite the style 180 since we first met in high school and really in the last couple years. He now prefers his clothes to be tailored and fitted. I shop for him so it has been hard to go in a totally different direct!
BUT he is weird about colors. Tee shirts are only black, navy or grey and plain. Shorts used to only be cargo from Abercrombie or AE but he has spread out to plain/plaid regular shorts from J.Crew, mostly because I refuse to enter Abercrombie. Button-downs on the other hand, he is totally open to all sorts of plaid and plain, they are more about the fit.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown
But doesn't tuck in the shirt - which is fine. But the shoes. OMG the shoes.
He had surgery on his big toes when he was little which left him with no toenails and it's pretty creepy looking, so I get it. I just wish he would find something better than neon athletic shoes. Ugh.
He wears athletic pants all the time. And while some aren't "bad" some are super worn and should not be worn outside of the house. If he wears sandals he only wears the slide athletic type.

Eh, I don't have any issues with how he dresses. I mean, if he were to complain to me about how I dressed...NOPE. So I just leave him alone.
He has grown quite the affinity for Hawaiian shirts since he broke his collarbone a few weeks ago and they are easier to put on then a shirt he has to slip over his head. It's kind of funny.
On our second date, DH picked me up and was wearing a pair of jeans that said G Unit on the front We went back to his house for him to change before I would go out in public with him. Lolz.
Tshirts that were way past their prime: holes, sweat stains, and faded. I finally got him to realize that if he stopped machine drying his favorite heavy metal tees they didn't look so trashy.
For the most part he's a good dresser. But man does he love his logo t-shirts. I get it, you love your Brooks Brothers t-shirts... But let's tone it down with the big BB across the front, ok?! Huuuuge pet peeve of mine!

The crew socks and shorts is the biggest disaster from H. Baggy clothes since he lost weight and refuses to try on new ones to see what size he now needs, but I'm slowly getting him to get new things. Khaki cargo shorts are his favorite, but i don't say much about those. Only other thing is he loves funny saying or band t-shirts. Normally this is ok, but sometimes he'll try to wear them out to places he shouldn't.
Some additional stories about my DH: -he thinks pale yellow button down shirts go with khaki/beige colored dress pants. No, just no. Yellow shirt + grey pants or navy, fine, just no khaki. -I bought him a pair of olive green dress pants yearsssss ago. They also would go with the yellow dress shirts, lol. He never wore them. I asked him why. He said "they're the only color dress pants your dad wears". The crazy thing is my dad, after having been an MP in the army, REFUSES to wear anything green, especially olive green. My mom backed me up on that one, lol.
My husbands really really fashionable. Way more so than me. Lol
All of the shoes he brought to Disney were uncomfortable so he bought Mickey cutout crocs. Bleh. He still wears them as a joke every now and then.
Sometimes he wears his clothes a size too small. He's self confidence is through the roof and in his head he's skinnier than he really is.
He's obsessed with sweater vests. September thru April he wears one almost every day. They're good in moderation but he has over 80.
omg wow! that's a lot of sweater vests
my H is pretty fashionable and 'picky' (in a good way) about what he wears, so I've never bought him clothes or given him advice (he hates it when his mom tries to buy him clothes so I steer clear of doing that). We like shopping together though so I'm happy!
The day he told me he wanted Crocs, I told him that was GFD (grounds for divorce.)
He swore up and down he just wanted them as house shoes but I was told that on a boy trip, he wore them out. With socks! Oh the horror!!
Get him the croc loafers. My DH has the croc loafers & those are acceptable. We had an argument about the ugly crocs. They aren't allowed for even around the house bc I know he would wear them out. He told me I'm denying him of the most comfortable shoes in the entire world.
