He requested assistance. I don't know what I'm doing, but I immediately thought of you all!
:-)
He bought this table on CL. I'm not a fan, but it's too late. He's looking at budget furniture and potentially used off CL if he can luck out.
Anyone have any ideas? Blank slate here. Light wood floors, white walls, and this singular piece of furniture. lol. Just texted to clarify that the apartment pic attached is the model unit, so his will be similar but without furniture.
I love the "let me consult my people". I say that too when I'm secretly referring here.
I'm no help though. Most guys I know don't care enough to actually decorate. They just buy what they can afford and let it roll in all it's mismatched glory.
Maybe.... Pick a theme and go from there. Or a color scheme. Sorry I'm not much help.
Edit: A simple side table and add color with curtains and a nice lamp. I'm not sure what his style is on those. I wouldn't get the black couch, but that's what the link defaults to.
He bought the chairs, too. Which are the part I don't like.
I know whatever he does will be fine. But he's proud and asking for help so I wanted to steer him in some direction.
I also know that if he's anything like his sister, the mix match will drive him crazy 10 months down the line and he'll inevitably want to replace half of it for a more cohesive but still totally un-cool look.
Now that I think of it, I want you guys to decorate MY apartment. Lol. Next time we move, perhaps?
Not sure about Homegoods. I know there is one in a suburb not too far away. I also told him value city furniture (where we bought our first couch) and overstock. Am I forgetting other bang for your buck places?
Check wayfair.com for some budget-friendly furniture and decor. I've used them a couple of times over the last year and they have quality stuff at a range of prices.
Haha, no I think you're right on. I told him most of that (but specified that he should focus on the couch now and add some chairs/a lamp/throw pillows after he banks a few paychecks (and starts paying his sister back!)
There might be some great local shops. I just have never gotten the decorating bug, so we did the quick and dirty when we moved in here in 2011 and I've never had a reason to browse since then

I'm amazed that a table and chairs were his first purchase for the bachelor pad - neither h nor I had one from our single days and it still took a few years of being married before purchasing (and not because we waited for some fancy piece).
