Oh, Mekia this is so awesome! How are you feeling about such a big change? It's got to be both exciting and surreal.
I had hearing aids when I was little, but I really didn't appreciate them as much as I do now. I probably wouldn't care if I didn't have a baby, to be honest. I just love that I can hear him now
I wish there was a way to turn off the background noises though!
There is noise reduction within the processing, but you just aren't used to hearing things. It will take time for the brain to learn how to hear again, but eventually you will be able to try to tune out some of the unimportant noise!

"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
Oh, and I thought of you a few weeks ago. We were at a local park and a little girl (maybe 6?) fell into a GIANT mud puddle. She came out looking like she had been in a must wrestling competition. Her grandparents were with her, and brought her over to the splash pad to rinse off. (It was only about 65 degrees outside. So pretty chilly, unfortunately, but she was a mess.) We were talking to them, and they said they were really concerned. The puddle was about a foot deep so falling in she was submerged for a second. No joke. She had hearing aids, and they were concerned they may have been damaged. They said they cost $4k and it would be a devastating loss if they were damaged or ruined.
