I got a spinal tap done for possible meningitis when i was super sick w the flu. Yes, i had a bad headache. Do they stop when he lays down? They said if its unbearable to come back in.
Sometimes they can heal on their own but with mine, I could not wait that long because I was in so much pain. I was still in the hospital for PP recovery when they did the blood patch. Instant relief. I was scared for them to go back into the epidural space but I am so glad they did.

The doctor basically said he has to wait it out for at least 24 hours unless he's in the worst pain of his life (he's not, but he can't function enough to work). This stinks. Boo.

I had one after Sophia. They tried a blood patch two different times but could never get the blood to put back in my back. I was really swollen and I guess my veins kept collapsing. Basically I told them they couldn't try a third and I had to wait for it to go away on it's own. It took nearly three weeks, I would not recommend that!!! There i was recovering from a C-section and taking care of a newborn with a spinal headache. It was worse than a migraine! :/
If it persists after a day, he might want to go in. I know I had to stay flat and hydrated to feel OK. It was always worse in the morning (when you are more dehydrated) and sometimes I'd have to crawl to the bathroom.

Thanks, everyone. I'm so sorry some of you had this, it seems awful! He still feels awful unless he's laying flat. I hope he wakes up magically recovered.
I know your doctor said to wait 24 hours but I would take him in. It's cruel and unusual punishment to make anyone suffer with a spinal headache. That doctor clearly has never had one.

Yea, I agree and we are just waiting for the doctor to call back. I'm trying to logistically figure out how to take him in and also wrangle two children. I think my nanny mentioned she was going out of town today. Ack!
Sorry to jump in from ML, but I saw your thread on the app.
I had a spinal tap in December and ended up having a blood patch a few days later. Your H's timeline looks similar to mine...flat for 24 hours, back to normal but calm activity the next day, RAGING headache and some nausea by that night. The blood patch sucked, but it was worth it, no doubt.

Ugh, I can't imagine how stressed you must be right now. I'm sorry! I wish the nanny were there to help or that I lived closer. ((hugs))
And just to clarify, I hope you know I didn't mean I thought you were being cruel to your hubby. I know you were just following doctor's orders. I think the doctor was the one being cruel by making him wait it out.
