It seems to me that logic and rational thinking are irrelevant as long as they're standing up and show him they're not going to take it. It's the principle.
To me, the clearest evidence that racism is playing a major part in the Obama hate is how much vitriol is directed not at him but at his wife. I cannot think of any other First Lady who has basically stayed out of politics and has garnered as much hate and sheer venom as she has. Her cause is "get kids to eat more fruits and vegetables" FFS and she's been absolutely shredded by a lot of people on the right, especially over her appearance , everything from her body shape to her facial features.
I know Hillary got a lot of hate, but she also put herself out there and chose a political issue, so I don't see that as quite the same. And I don't think that at first she got this kind of reaction. But did Laura Bush get this? Barbara Bush? Nancy Reagan? Rosalynn Carter?
You cannot tell me that this is only about politics. It's about the fact that there is a black family as First Family and some people feel extremely threatened and/or resentful about that.
Yes. And I think some people that say "oh no it's not about race" are in complete denial about their feelings.

This, absolutely. I welcome anyone to go find something to prove me wrong but I do not recall anyone hating on Laura Bush and saying shit like "How dare she tell me to read to my kids??" I don't even remember that when GWB's ratings were at an all-time low because of Iraq.

i wouldnt say that about everyone that offers an opposing view of Obama. i dont think mmp is a racist or any other the other cons on the board. i dont think my republican neighbor is. but too much of a majority are opposing Obama b/c of race for me to say there is no impact
No no no, I didn't mean to imply that about all people who disagree with the pres. Just some.

Exactly. And Michelle didn't even accidentally run down her ex-boyfriend with her car. Can you imagine if she had?
