There are rare days when I really help a client by saving them money or helping them figure out a way to make their business viable. But on the whole, no. I think if I had more client interaction, it would be better. Most of the time, it just feels like paperwork.
Absolutely. It was probably my number one criteria when I was choosing a career... I needed to feeling like I was helping people and making a difference. It's exhausting but rewarding.
Yes. Sometimes that means seeking a jail sentence & sometimes it means working on a rehabilitation plan. In either scenario, protecting public safety and victims' rights are major components of my end goal.
Hell no. I'm an accountant. Nothing I do is all that important, interesting, or useful from a life perspective, aside from keeping the IRS happy. However, I do work for a hospital so my company does very useful things - I'm just a worker bee and I could do what I do anywhere.
I'm an accountant in healthcare too! Maybe I'm deluding myself?
I definitely didn't feel like my public accounting job did any good, but this job feels very different.
But I also work for a nonprofit, so one should really hope so.
I'll just ditto this. I work in education related non profit, and have a specific focus on education reform and advocacy. I spend a lot of time trying to get things changed on a national or state level, but I also work for an organization that works directly with students, so I get to see the big and small pictures at once. It's very rewarding and keeps me going when there is tons of bullshit.
