My folks are taking care of J today - they come down once a month and the changes are always so apparent - it's so cute to see their reactions to his new skills
J is starting to pull up straight to his knees and trying to stand. I was sitting right next to him when he tipped backwards and landed with a loud thud on his back (on the carpet, thank God). :'(OMG I felt so awful - it appears I have entered the time of 'no self presevation' and trying new skills.

The sickness is coming and I am scared lol. DH came from his work trip with a sore throat. Today DS woke up with a cough and runny nose. I don't wanna get sick guys!
My older dd, 4.5, is going on her first field trip with summer camp/daycare today. It is to a pool/splash park. I am a nervous wreck. Why did I agree to this??
Aww, I'm sure they'll be in the super safe kids area. Did you provide lots of sunscreen?
Your post is making me excited about going to places like that with my little guy. And now I'm thinking about wearing a bathing suit in public. bummer.

We're moving DS into his toddler room tonight. I'm so nervous that this is going to mess up his beautiful predictable nighttime sleep. I do love how his truck-themed room turned out, though. He's going to love it!

Huge AW: I'm 29 today! Woop!
We had a bday dinner last night at a non kid friendly restaurant and it went south fast for my niece. They left at 615 with no food and I felt terrible. Meanwhile, my kid destroyed the area with crushed crackers, thrown sippy cups, and toys.
It is amazing to see how much better things are when I can properly feed my child. Dealing with a clogged duct yesterday was awful in and of itself. Then add in solo parenting and not being able to really feed my child enough milk and it's even worse. DS rarely has bottles and never from me, so I didn't even try that. Plus, I needed his help to break up the clog. Finally, it opened up sometime after 10 last night and it just made everything better. He's back to being a smiley guy and I feel better, too.
Please let DH & my car make it home in one piece on Sunday. He had a really bad tire blowout in a dangerous place. He's in a really remote town and he's hoping to find some place that can take care of it today. I guess the car is beyond filthy and in desperate need of a good cleaning, too. DH is so not a car guy, so this is a little out of his comfort zone.
Why my kid is gross: He somehow managed to pull the toilet brush into the bathtub with him this morning. Ewwwww.
Is this a phase?: C will be 1 next week. He has always been a good eater, but this week is being such a butthead! Unless it's cheese, strawberries or grapes, he'll put food (that he has previously liked) in his mouth and then push it out with his tongue like it's gross. How do I make sure he's getting enough food without resorting to pouches all the time? He used to prefer real food that he could feed himself. Bah!
DD1 has been staying with my parents, and they have done so many fun things. Museums, science center, Mt. Vernon. Meanwhile I'm at Urgent Care again. Wah. I need a vacation, and I'm not sure traveling to NJ next week counts.
Charlie has gotten really good at counting to two. So H and I are using that to teach him stupid tricks. Now, if you ask him, "How many non-consecutive terms did President Grover Cleveland serve?" he'll go "onnnnnne...TWO!"
DS is five months old today! I can't believe it. Last night he refused to sit in his bath until I turned him toward the window. So opinionated already! He also turned himself 180 degrees away from the kick and play piano.
We leave tomorrow to go home and while I'm dreading the drive, I'm looking forward to being home. And our new dishwasher comes Monday!!
tulips I feel a little better that it's not just us. And yes, half chewed food in the bib is so gross. Also, C figured out that if he throws the food he doesn't want on the floor, the dog gets it. Now the dog lurks every time we feed him. Sigh.

I vote phase, we started going through the same thing around 1 year. He's 16 months now and it seems to cycle better and worse, but he still doesn't eat as much variety as he did before turning 1.
I have a nonkid related vent. I want to wear a sign that says "Yes I AM pretty despite being fat! THANK YOU! No, I'm not dieting, nor in need of dieting encouragement." There is something about me that apparently asks for backhanded compliments and unneeded dieting advice. Latest was by a pregnant friend, from out of nowhere who reminded me that if I want to lose some weight to do it before I'm pregnant again, cause I won't have the energy in first tri! WTF would I try to diet while pregnant anyways?!?
My DH has a guys night tonight and I am so excited about it. I'll pick up take out for me, then I just have to get DS down around 7:30 then I have the whole rest of the night to myself! to do whatever I want!

Your son is younger than mine, right? Holy crap I would be shutting that shit down lol. No walking or crawling yet...do not want to baby proof yet lol. Also I will probably never see DS anymore once he learns he can get around without me.
AW: I hit my PP weight today. (please don't look at my ticker, bc yes it's been 20+ months..boo to gaining after weaning)
AW2: I am doing C25k and I haven't cheated/taken walk breaks during the running segments once. Talk to me next week when I have to run 20 consecutive minutes though...
Vent: DH has the worst communication skills. UGH.
Random: Anyone have any good luck/job dust to spare? I will be hearing back next week about the job I applied for and I reeeeeeeally want it!
I think I have tennis elbow from playing with my dad on Wednesday. Sigh. I used to be a fairly good tennis player (3 years of varsity and was the captain my senior year of HS), but now I'm lucky if I get to hit balls 1-2x a summer. I'm just woefully out of shape and getting OLD, boo.
I have to work today because I took off Tuesday for DS's surgery.
DH is away this weekend. So not only did we not get to go away last week and spend much needed time together, but now I will be alone this weekend. Saturday I have a dentist appointment. Awesome.
AUGUST BETTER BE MORE FUN THAN THIS.
But we're all healthy at this very moment. So there's that.
How long do you give someone to get back to you when trying to plan an activity and you reach out to them a day or two in advance?
I'm trying desperately to plan something for the weekend with ANYONE(see desperate earlier in this sentence) and everyone is either busy, or not responding.
I'm ready to continue pecking down my list and reaching out to other people. But what if someone I reached out to earlier responds after I've already made other plans?
Leaving soon to go to our very very late one year appointment. I'm really curious to see how Bs growth has changed. I also realized he will miss lunch and most of nap now so I really screwed myself.
Only two more work days until vacation. It's not the best time for me to leave for an almost 2 week vacation, but oh well.
I have a baby shower to go to Saturday evening at 5:30. I'm so annoyed that its so late. At least I can use DD as an excuse to leave early? It's for one of my old best friends from high school, but I don't really like the other girls going, so I'm not looking forward to it.
I pulled an actual all nighter for work last night. You know, for my part-time job. I am exhausted. But DS3 grabbed my face with both hands and kissed me for the first time this morning, which helps .

Did anyone else see the new Apple iphone 5s commercial ? It's geared towards families using and incorporating the iphones into their lives (babies, kids, etc.). I was definitely tearing up.

DS gagged on his bottle last night and promptly threw up. He was fine. I cried.
I'm exhausted. DH was gone all week, got home last night, declared that he was on "baby duty", and then failed to wake up when DS got up in the MOTN. He did, however, manage to snore like a mofo and keep me up the rest of the time I wasn't dealing with DS.
Lately when I pick up DD from daycare, if she's in her room, she'll run to the corner, lay down and cry. Such a drama queen.
Daycare wants to move her to sleep in cot instead of crib, because she's moving to the next class soon, and she's been trying to climb out of her crib. I'm nervous! I don't know if she'll stay in the cot and take a nap there.

I was curious how your H's HFM is coming along?
I ended up getting a very mild version of it - 102 degree fever Tue afternoon and Wednesday, sore throat (which is getting better today), and I have 5 blisters on my hands.

His fever started last Friday, with not feeling good on Thursday. Blisters started to appear Saturday AM I think? Or Friday night? He spent the weekend with his hands in ice water. His hands were COVERED. He had a few near his mouth, a couple in his mouth, and a few on the bottoms of his feet.
By Tuesday he was no longer in terrible pain. But his hands are still covered with flat/hard blisters. At least they're healing.

Kyle again?
DD has blisters on her hands from the monkey bars. Do you suppose they make weightlifting gloves in kid sizes?
