MH and I came in fourth place in a Simpsons trivia contest last night. They award prizes (donuts, lol) for first, second, and third ... we were half a point behind the third place team.
It's held in Brooklyn once a month, and it's fun but it's a PITA to get there. I'm thinking of starting one myself in New Jersey but I have no idea how to go about it, or how to get people to come.
One of the partners at work is playing Adele loudly and booming so it can be heard in most of the building. I know we don't have any clients right now but really???
Weekend plans: cleaning, cleaning, and some packing thrown in. I've been waiting for this move for a year. I can't believe it's almost here.
I'm also a tiny little stress ball at the fact today is DH's last day. I'm officially the sole earner. I can't stop thinking that what if he can't find a job at all. What if moving for my job doomed his career and he never forgives me? I need a drink
Our partner retreat is this week, and this afternoon they'll all be flying back from Europe <) So I am going to leave EARLY. I'm disappointed though that none of my coworkers can have a liquid lunch for me (because they actually have work to do). I think this afternoon may be spent on my roof listening to CLEs. Then a friend is going to come over to do roof drinks and then dinner.
Tomorrow I think we may take the Staten Island Ferry for the hell of it, but I also want to go to the greenmarket. And then we're going for an MM steakhouse dinner (I have a gift card that I got from a vendor 2 Christmases ago).
On Sunday I'm supposed to do something for a friend's birthday, but he has not come up with any plans yet.
Oh, and I (finally) got my bonus today!!! That was a good thing. <) <) <)
I had new woven wood blinds installed yesterday and they look so good. So glad to be rid of the gross metal mini blinds, those suckers are a bitch to clean.
Tonight, walking and then drinks with my neighbors. Spending all day tomorrow at the pool w/ neighbors, low humidity which is glorious in DC. Sunday more pool unless it rains, then cleaning/errands.
I wore a maxi skirt to work for the first time today and I'm majorly regretting it because I keep running over it with my chair.
Also it's a million degrees in my cube and I feel like crap. Ugh, I might go home early today.
ETA: On a happier note, I think I'm going to buy a car today! I've finally decided on a Mazda CX-5. I hate the car buying process, but am so excited to have a new car!
Oops, I quoted myself instead of editing. Must be Friday!
I am about to give up on the internet. For the fourth time this week I have stumbled across a picture that either completely grosses me out or has scared the living snot out of me. Most of the pictures are of snakes which freak me the hell out. The other day I had to hide a picture of a giant snake on FB with one eye closed because it scared the crap out of me. Now I can't scroll too far down on either CNN or NBC News because they also have snake-related stories.
We are going out for corndogs and milkshakes tonight for our anniversary (which was on Tuesday). I told H I wasn't up for sitting through a fancy meal, but I'm pretty excited about the corndogs.
I hate doing group projects for school. We got the assignment two weeks ago and it's due Wednesday but my classmates haven't done anything yet. I'm supposed to put all the parts together and do the editing so I established Tuesday as a deadline, but I'm afraid that on that day I'll have to pick all the slack and do whatever is not done yet.
mbcdefg does the trivia mainly cover the older seasons, or the new ones as well? I'd love Simpsons trivia, but only if it cut-off around Season 12 or so.
Tonight DH and I are volunteering at a Stampede-related concert with Our Lady Peace, Rob Thomas, and Lifehouse. That should be fun.
No plans tomorrow, but then I have a triathlon on Sunday, my first in open water.
I am feeling good today. I was invited to watch this week's Pretty Little Liars last night at a former coworkers house. Yay me! I have friends, lol. (I know this probably sounds weird, but I have been trying to work on socializing and making friendships and stuff).
Tonight, H and I are going to check out a local place for drinks. They were primarily a liquor store, but have opened up a bar area with light food and outdoor seating.
We had a death in the family and are traveling OOT. We had to scramble to get the dogs boarded and get a hotel, so I feel stressed.
On top of that, I was supposed to go to a Justin Timberlake concert with my friend tomorrow and I had to bail on her. She was coming from OOT just to go and has been giving me a hard time about how I can't go now. Seriously, the situation is out of my control and her reaction has me questioning our friendship. When someone in your family dies, you don't give a shit about a concert anymore- sorry!
This is a "Do Not Schedule" weekend for us. No obligations, other than to do laundry and stain our deck. I may attack our closets and do some de-cluttering in anticipation of (hopefully) putting the house on the market in the next month. I love getting rid of crap :-)
Also, rehearsing the HELL out of my interview question responses.

I'm sort to hear of your loss. How crappy of your friend!

The one I went to only covers episodes from the 1990s, so the questions come from season 1-10.
I don't really watch anything beyond season 10, anyway. I love the show but the new episodes are terrible and I wish they'd just put it out of its misery.
One more day wih my parents here. I'm so tired, dh is acting like a bratty teenager, and I'm so stressed out I don't have the energy or emotional fortitude to hash it out with dh right now.
I hate it. I love having them here. Dh normally loves them. But small house + 7 days + hot weather has made this experience miserable. At least I can cry in the shower?

I've eaten out bfast and lunch almost daily this week bc DD is giving me a run for my money, so I'm eating my feelings. I have a lot of guilt about the money though.

:drink: for @mrschicken
And I'm sorry for your loss, cuadrado. That's really shitty of your friend.
I'm supposed to take a 3:00 coffee break with work friends and then have a happy hour scheduled with a colleague. I am already mentally exhausted. I mean, I love people, but they exhaust me! I tend to forget this when making plans.
Tomorrow: blueberry picking, jam making, freelancing, World Cup watching, redecorating to accommodate our new china cabinet
Sunday: helping friends get their house ready for their baby on the way, watching the World Cup final with them, maybe a quick trip to the mall
I just heard "Let It Go" for the first time (I had heard 5-second sound bites of the chorus, but never the rest). I really do lead a charmed existence.

Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Tonight: a wedding reception (they eloped and are having their party now) Tomorrow: H has some appts in the morning (chiro, eye doctor) and then we are tailgating before the roller derby. Very excited about that. Sunday: probably nothing

That sounds fun! A meetup group could work.
Oooh, that's a good idea! Even just for the initial few contests, to spread the word and build a fan base.
I should contact some bars in Jersey City (or Hoboken, but I hate parking there) to see if they'd let me host it there. The other contests affiliated with that Brooklyn group are held in bars in Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Hamilton. And Thunder Bay: woohootrivia.blogspot.com/

Congrats to you! I would rock it if it were seasons 1-~15 I once won an I Love Lucy trivia contest.
