I am so miserable. My symptoms are: congestion, coughing, sore throat. My head wants to explode. Also, I took NyQuil Cough last night and I'm still groggy from it plus my eyes are bloodshot. People at work probably think I'm hungover. I took some Mucinex this morning which is helping the congestion a little. I'm also taking Halls cherry cough drops like they're candy today. I'd go home but laying down just makes everything worse and my MIL is visiting today so I'd rather avoid her.
So, what are your best cold remedies? Favorite cold meds? I'm going to the drug store at lunch to pick up some stuff.
Not really a remedy, and probably not a great suggestion for summertime, but I usually feel better after eating a bowl of pho with some Sriracha mixed in. Helps clear out my sinuses at least. Is there a Vietnamese restaurant near you where you can pick up some for lunch?

This is so funny because I was just thinking last night how awesome a good bowl of pho would be right now. Off to google closeby Vietnamese restaurants!
Dristan or Afrin. Works like magic. I only use it at night to sleep, and that seems to help avoid the fact that it's incredibly addictive. Read the label, blah blah blah, but that's the only shit that ever does a thing for congestion for me.

I don't claim to know how authentic it is, but it's tasty, and it was fairly easy for me to acquire all the ingredients. I got the beef knuckle bones at a butcher (for a very MM price, too!), and I found most of the spices at my regular supermarket. I was able to get some of the other spices, the Thai basil, and the dried noodles at a local Asian supermarket. I picked up one final spice at Penzy's. The good thing is that the spices can make me several batches of broth, and I can get many servings out of each batch.
