We considered Krispy Kreme but decided we're too lazy to drive that far. DH suggested DD which was right on our way because they're both just donuts. False, DH. False.

Does KK have a variety like DD? I can't remember. When they came to Atlanta I went once and they weren't magical, so I don't get the hype.
Donuts are donuts as long as they don't give you that weird greasy mouthfeel that some grocery store donuts do when they are not cooked in hot enough oil.
Yes, KK does have variety but maybe not quite as many flavors as DD?
Their strength is the hot plain glazed eaten in the store before it has a chance to cool down. It literally melts in your mouth. IMHO, if you haven't tried this, you haven't tried KK.
OMG Hot KK cannot be beat. But even not hot KK beat DD. And I love me a Boston Creme from DD.
Thank you, this is another good point. KK ages much better than DD.
KK has many varieties, but still probably only half as many as DD . I would ask how many does a person eat? Of traditional favors, I probably only eat 5. So Dd having 25 doesn't do much for me.
Last point--I wouldn't eat a plain glazed from DD, not ever. I could eat 5 in a row from KK. Maybe even 6.
I rotate between only 2-3 flavors, so totally agree on the 25 varieties being unnecessary.

The KK near where I went to undergrad - gave away free hot glazed donuts when the sign was on. Those and hot chocolate in the middle of endless winter.
I did like their filled ones better than DD - not as much if the waxy aftertaste
We did have a Tim Horton's down the street for Bagels.
