With flying colors I have to add!!
I may be a fat ass, but at least I'm a HEALTHY fat ass . << I want to apologize if I accidentally insulted anyone with this comment, I did not intent to infer that only overweight/not healthy people get GD. I know it can strike anyone. I'm sorry if I hurt anyone with my comment.
But, before you hear it from others, even healthy people can get gestational diabetes.
Enjoy your dessert!!
Oh! I didn't mean my comment like that - I am FULLY aware that the healthiest person can get GD. I've met some women that I was SURPRISED got it.
I mostly meant it as a jab at myself since I needed to lose about 30-40 lbs before I got pregnant and a lot of people don't think that overweight people can be healthy (low bp, low blood sugar, low cholesterol - etc).
I really REALLY sincerely hope I didn't offend anyone as it was not my intention at all.

Ha! I'm sure you would have heard if someone was offended.

Probably because she apologized and explained herself before too many people saw it.
I had GD, I was at a healthy weight pre-pg, I worked out throughout my pregnancy (competed in a 2.4 mile open water race in the ocean 7 weeks before I delivered and placed 4th in my age group, did a 2 hour swim workout with my Masters team the day before I went into labor), and gained minimal weight during the pregnancy.
But there is a lot of misinformation out there about GD, people often do think you did something to cause it, and it's an emotional diagnosis when you get it. I mean how many posts are there about, "Oh, I've been even eating so terribly, I'm sure I'm going to fail the test and have GD!"
The reality is there is nothing you can do to cause it and nothing you can do to prevent it. It's simply your body's hormonal reaction to pregnancy. But most people don't realize that, which does make it hard for the people who have it. Having it by no means makes you any less healthy than any other pregnant woman, it just changes your risk level.

This is very true. I've run marathons, and am an Ironman - I had GD. It is very emotional because it is out of your control, and people assume it's because you can't put down the cupcakes. I am very hopeful that I don't have it this time around, but it is truly out of my control.
