I would be very embarrassed. But that's why surprise visits just cannot be socially acceptable. Only crazy people can keep a clean home with two children. I'm looking at you creamsiclechica
It'd be fine. Our house is usually clean (thanks to the cleaning ladies!) but I'd probably have to put a few toys away. I'd also have to have dh distract you while I threw all the dirty dishes into the dishwasher to hide them. I'd just throw them in there just to hide the mess.
Not too bad from a cleanliness perspective, but we bought a fixer upper and haven't done much cosmetically. I am often embarrassed that it looks like I'm living in the 80's and that we aren't actively doing anything about it.

Oh and we keep our bedrooms very clean, they're usually the cleanest/tidiest in the house. I wouldn't be able to sleep looking around a room full of stuff.
My bathrooms are generally clean, but sometimes I take my time getting to the shower/tub scrubbing and they get a little nasty.
Clean enough. Maids come every other week for deep cleaning and I keep the laundry running and the kitchen wiped down. Toys can be picked up in less than 5 min.
I would be a little embarrassed because the living room toys are a mess, but the kitchen is fairly clean. Normally it's the opposite. Kitchen messes are a lot more embarrassing to me than toy messes.
I'd be a little embarrassed. The kitchen/bath are slightly messy, but clean. The entry/living room is covered in toys, but I refuse to let that bother me. My bedroom doesn't matter, 'cause visitors don't get to go in there, invited or not.
The maids come every other week so my house is always fairly clean (we maintain throughout the week) but we almost always have clutter, mostly kid toys.

You know when you go to a friends house and they are all like, "sorry about the mess.." But it actually looks really good? Well a lot of you are probably being like that, mine is really, pretty embarrassing.

Well. My house isn't clean at all, I'm taking everything out of the kitchen and reorganizing it all and now the rest of the house is a mess. However, even if my house was spotless, I would not answer the door if they just showed up. I was ninja past the door and peek out the window.
Mine isn't sparkling, but it's pretty clean. Tbh the house is a bit big for us right now so I find keeping it tidy difficult even with a cleaning lady every second week.

lol this is sooo me. I feel like my "presentable" is still a mess to most people.
I was just thinking about this 5 min ago. Our neighborhood is super close knit and now that we are friends with a bunch of neighbors, I'm terrified of them dropping by unannounced. It's always clean on the days my mom watches L (my mom is seriously ocd about cleaning so if something's dirty, she cleans it. This includes laundry) but otherwise, nope. It's so hard to keep a really nice house with a two year old.
Is your mom interested in watching Mia? (For her OCD cleanliness purposes) I love OCD clean people. I want them to be my room mate.
No you don't. Signed the girl who lost an OCD friend because we chose to be college roommates.
ETA: she used to constantly empty the trash when it was half-full and then get super pissed at me for never emptying the trash. Then she made a schedule for cleaning each week and I always waited until the Sunday night to do mine and she would get mad that I would wait until Sunday. It was a disaster.

Dn was left to his devices for two weeks while I was out of town, it was a shithole but I cleaned downstairs and Julian's room last night. Upstairs is tomorrow.
Right now it's not too bad, but I'm sure it's still way worse than most of your's! I'm not a neat freak, I like when things are tidy, but not so much that I'll sacrifice relax time to clean. I have a legit problem with laundry though. I can not, for the life of me, keep up with laundry. There is ALWAYS always laundry piles laying around. Speaking of OCD roomies, my best friend is super OCD and would clean frantically for hours a day (and she truly enjoyed it) then she would put the broom or vacuum outside my bedroom door and wait for me to come home so I could vacuum my room and "complete" the cleaning cycle. Lol. Eventually she just started doing it herself, I definitely didn't mind.

Our house is usually pretty clean...except for the girl's toys. We have an upstairs/downstairs cleaning rotation...each gets fully cleaned every other week. We usually do a surface clean in between. Growing up, my room was always a disaster, so I'm the complete opposite now.
