I'm looking for blackout curtain panels for the nursery but I'm having trouble finding something w/o bad reviews. Anyone found something they'd recommend?
I just got regular curtains and then lined them with blackout fabric myself. I'm not particularly handy with a sewing machine either, you just need to be able to sew a few straight lines.
ETA you could probably use hem tape or drapery pins if you don't have access to a sewing machine
I've been super happy with the Eclipse Dalton (or maybe dayton(?) can't remember) style. I got them from walmart online. They didn't have a lot of color options but they work great and have the grommet panels so they slide open easily which I needed for my toddlers rooms.
If you live near an IKEA they had some that were amazing. Sadly we no longer have them (the buyers asked for them when we sold our previous house), and don't live close to an IKEA anymore

We have these too, only the solid top. I'm quite happy with them.
What does "solid top" mean? What's different? Just curious.
The solid top doesn't have any "holes" (grommets) along the top. It's a solid piece of fabric and the curtain rod goes through a fabric loop along the top edge.

Ahh... That makes sense. I've been a little dense lately.

The Eclipse curtains I bought did have an odor at first, but it dissipated within a few days. I'm surprised that you say this about reading... I can see well enough that I leave them closed all day and have no problems changing diapers, nursing, etc. in the room. Do you have blinds in addition to the panels?
I've also tried sewing in liner like @astrid suggested. It doesn't completely block the light, either. I don't know if the windows just get too much direct sun or what, but I haven't found anything that makes the room completely dark.
