I'm really sorry to hear that. I don't know what to do about LO other than I'd be worried about saying your dog got sick and isn't coming home as it might freak her out about other more minor illnesses
I am so, so sorry. Please lean on us if you need us. Losing a pet is so incredibly hard. Daisy is so beautiful and she was lastly SO loved... And her love is reciprocated BIG time by looking at her with your fairly in those photo.
Aww I'm so sorry. She looks like she was such a sweet dog. ((Hugs)).
My parents cat (one of my childhood pets) passed this spring and we told B that he was broken and that he couldn't be fixed. (We went with that because B is terrified of the doctor and we didn't want to make the situation worse by mentioning sick or doctor just in case.) He's asked a few times where the cat is since the and we've said he isn't here anymore, and B seems pretty content with that answer.
I just noticed you asked what to say to V. When my inlaws dog Maggie passed away this year we told L that she didn't feel well but she had a happy life. Then we told her Nana was taking her somewhere where she would feel better and get to play with other happy puppies. We couldn't visit her there though. Every day for a week when we dropped L off in the morning she started asking where Maggie was but then she would say, "oh with all the happy puppies, Maggie happy now". She still says it once in a while. The vet sent a condolence card and it had dogs on the front which was perfect because we told her that Maggie sent it and those were the happy puppies. Hugs.

Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry and sad for you. I am crying at her beautiful pictures. I thought of you all day today and I'm so sorry that it had to come to this. Just know that Daisy knew she was loved through and through, start to finish. What a beautiful girl and such a sad moment for your family. I am here if you need me!!
Oh no, I missed your previous post. I am so sorry! So many hugs to you. She looks so beautiful and sweet and I can see that you guys loved each other so much. ((((hugs))))
I am so very sorry for your loss Your pictures are beautiful and she was clearly very loved. When we put our dog down in November we told O that he went "bye, bye". We talk about missing him. She came up with her own conclusion that he is at "work". I guess it makes sense to her at this point. She does still talk about him and says he is at work.
My parents put down one of their dogs this post Wednesday and A loved him. I think I'm going to wait until she asks about him and then say, "He died. He isn't coming back... It's okay if you're sad." And leave it at that. I know she has no idea about death but I can't lie to her. I just want it to be a fact of life. He died. I've read that she should just accept it and move on. If she asks more about it then I'll have to decide then what to say. When we lost our older dog last September, A didn't really even notice. Now's a little more difficult.
I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so tough.
I took a very interesting college course on death and this is what was recommended for kids.

This made me cry again, but I like it. alicia45, I read that, too.
I couldn't do it tonight. She said, "where'd Daisy go?" I said she wasn't here and she said, "she napping?" I just tried to change the subject. I will try to do a brother job of it tomorrow. It's just too raw right now.
