But now I hate it. My children have sucked the joy out. If they aren't rejecting what I cook they are going effing insane if I don't dare have the meal on the table in 10 minutes once they see me start cooking. And then there is the clean up. And the meal prep. Ugh, this is one thing that kids have really ruined for me.
My dream house includes a kitchen completely separate from the house and other people lol.
I am counting down the seconds until H gets home with wine. My kids are screaming/laughing while they eat their sloppy joes that they were losing their minds about 10 minutes prior. I am waiting to eat my food in peace. LOL like that will ever happen. :?
I feel the same way! How old are your kids? 5 and 3 here. Also, my 5 year old decided to be a vegetarian. She is a picky eater anyway and is dairy free. Fun times!
Ugh-- I feel your pain. I am basically in hiatus from making real meals, because its such a pain in the ass. My kids are subsisting on pb&j, grilled cheese, and cut up fruit for every dinner till September.
Furthermore, I have an internal evil laugh when they ask what are we eating and I answer "broiled trout with zucchini chips" and they all go ewwwwwwww. I act all surprised "I was making it just for you! I thought you loved it!" Lol
Yep. Abby goes without dinner (or only eats a little of it) several nights a week because she doesn't like what I made. Caleb doesn't like me to do anything in the kitchen, especially wash dishes. He's still young enough for me to put him in a wrap sometimes, but I've had to cook one-handed with him on my hip more than once.

The only solution have found is to put my kid to bed at 8-8:30, then cook and eat in peace. This means that I basically eat dinner at 10pm every night, which is a small price to pay for the peace and quiet.
I wish I still had the endurance to do this. I know this would be the perfect solution.

Ah, at least I'm in good company. The 3 yr old in the house declares EVERYTHING we serve at dinner 'yucky' - even if she's eaten it millions of times before. Usually we can get a bite or 2 in her mouth and she says it's yummy eventually - but OMG why can't she just eat what we give her without a battle?!
Breakfast - not a problem. Lunch - not a problem. Dinner - battle of a fucking lifetime.

Add me to the list.
I feel like by the end of the day I've already had to plan and execute at least 2 meals and a few snacks. The last thing I want to do is prepare yet another meal. Planning and preparing the first 2 meals is (often) as taxing as having to heat up a frozen waffle and peel a hard boiled egg. Feel sorry for my overworked self!

I'm so glad I'm not alone. Everyday the boys ask what is for dinner, and then promptly tell me they don't like it. Then we sat down, and we eat everything, and usually ask for seconds. I've gotten to the point that I just told them I did ask if they like it or not. It's so infuriating and it makes me feel like shit.

This is my DD to a T! I just don't fight about dinner anymore. You don't want to eat? Fine. But the only snack you're getting later is fruit if you're hungry. She eats a lot at breakfast and lunch though.

That's where we're at too... except my child would survive on fruit & bread if I let her...

Kids ruin everything. Little tyrant assholes. Good thing they are cute!
I don't mind the cooking, usually, but god, then I have to clean up. I need a self cleaning kitchen or a maid. Also, someone to fold and put away the laundry,
