We are going oct 29 to nov 4th. The kids will want to trick or treat and dress up of course. So I thought we would go to the Halloween party. Hold crap $317.00! And our youngest is free. This is additional, just for the party even thin we already have tickets for that day. I guess you need special tickets after 7pm.
Is it worth the cost? We would definitely NOT do it if we weren't going to be there Halloween night. I know it won't deprive my kids not to go, I mean they'll be at disney! I bought them because I hear it usually sells out but I'm second guessing myself now.
If you already bought them then don't worry about it. You will have fun. I read a bunch of yelp reviews on it and found them helpful, as I was trying to decide as well. W have annual passes and thought it might be fun for our kids. I decided that ours are a bit young to be worth the money, but it sounds like a fun time. There weren't Any reviews that said it was horrible. Disney always throws a good party.
See, I wasn't all that impressed. For the money we rode about two rides and brought home like ten pounds of candy...but trick or treating at home is free!

Disneyland? Disneyworld?
I loved it. We went twice in once week. You just need to have a plan of what you want to see and do. Yes they let you in at 4. PM if you need help planning

I'd give up the regular tickets for that day and get the MNSSHP tickets instead. Have a lazy, low-key day to relax and see other things. Downtown Disney perhaps? Then enter at 4:00 and go nuts.

I thought about this but it only knocks about 40 dollars off our total.

Our ILs take us every year in mid-October and we have always gone...it's fun, and it is less crowded than a regular day down there. I think even if DH and I had to pay for our own family's tickets we would still go.
We did it at WDW and it was so awesome. We rode all the rides with no wait, trick or treated and the kids got a ton of candy (in September) so they still did it at home too, got the villains cards, ate candy corn ice cream, met Ariel, wore toy story themed costumes. We had so much fun! Oh, and the fireworks were awesome. But we got there at 4 after a lazy day at the hotel and a little pool time. I would not do the parks before the party. I would just get there for the party. 4pm until midnight is already a long day.
We went for 2 nights last fall in early October. It was our favorite part of our 3 day stay at WDW. The parade is fantastic, the decorations were amazing, and a lot of the rides (esp haunted mansion) were dressed up for Halloween. I would have been happy with one night, but DH loves Halloween so we signed up 2. The TOTing was pretty good too and we got a ton of candy. Our kids (2 and 5) had the time of their lives. DH wants to go back for a weekend this October, but I don't think we can work out the time off
i think having an easy going day and just buying tickets to the NSSHP sounds like a great plan. We slept in till 11 or noon both days that we went to the party and didn't get to the parks till 1ish, so it probably wasn't worth having day passes as well.
We went in early October a few years ago. The lines were very reasonable. We didn't do much trick or treating though, as the lines for characters were long enough that my kids didn't want to wait. We had a good time, but Disney rarely disappoints our family. We felt it was a good alternative to doing the parks during the day, which is why I agree with PPs to skip the park during the day. I can't imagine doing the parks all day then having the stamina to plow through the Halloween party. I'd rather save the $40 and be fresh for the night.
We did it at WDW, a few days before Halloween in 2011. We LOVED IT! You have a special wristband so you can't just stay in the park from the day.
It is expensive, I was shocked at the price too, and it wasn't totally worth it, but what is these days? It was still fun.
The park was empty most days. We stayed on a few rides and rode twice because no one was waiting. I'd go around Halloween again in a heartbeat. Perfect weather too!
We went last year on Halloween night - and it was a BLAST. We are making it a new tradition! The lines for the rides were non-existent and we got a ton of candy - which was fun since we hadn't been trick or treating since high school.
I went on Halloween night 2009 and don't remember it being packed at all. It was just me and H and we really just went on lots of rides without having to wait in lines. The parade, fireworks and villains show were incredible. We got some great pics with characters in Halloween costumes. We're big kids!

We've done the Christmas party twice and enjoyed it. Halloween is supposed to be better, so I'd totally splurge on it. The fireworks and parade for the special events are awesome.
