I can't decide if I should go back to the store and make a big deal out of this or not. I'm a total tight-wad, and I want to take advantage of any discount I can.
Friday, I got an email saying that the store marked down everything - at least shorts and shoes - 40% off. If I got that discount, I would have gotten the following discounts:
$11.60 off each pair of shorts (I bought 2) $6.40 off a pair of shoes for a total discount of $29.60
I got an email Sunday, not realizing it changed it to 30% off shorts (with the same promo code, mind you). So I went shopping tonight and these are the discounts I received:
$8.70 off each pair of shorts (2) $0 off of the shoes - even though the shoes had an obvious 40% off sign above it for a total discount of $17.40
Which means I missed out on an additional savings of $12.20. Should I go back and have them refund the difference? Or should I just leave it alone? Part of me wants to just forget about it, but the other part of me wants to make it right just for sheer principle. I could have saved $13.21 after tax!
If the store is easy to get to, I would go with the receipt and the emails and say you're confused about the discounts stated and what you got, and see what they say.
Does the first email include the dates through which that discount applies?
I just get so many emails from Loft, BR, etc and the discount changes every day. I wouldn't bother, especially since it entails going back to the store. But I am lazy like that.

Yes, both emails say through 7/19/14.
I have a feeling I live in a much more navigable area than you. It's not that much of a hassle for me to go back. Plus I'll be driving right past it on the way to the dentist today.

Oh, both points definitely make a difference. Go in there and get your proper discount!

UPDATE: I told them that I was under the impression that I would be getting 40% off those items based on the email I received, but didn't notice it until I got home that the discounts weren't applied.
They just so happen to have marked those items down even more, so I ended up getting $25.37 back! Score!
